  • Age Limitation for Employment and Retention
    employment age is 18 years Exceptions are provided under the law if the employing agency procures an Employment Certificate from the County Social Services Department A Restrictive Laws A minor s employment work assignments working conditions pay and hours of work are covered by complex stringent Child Labor Laws These laws place the burden on the University as the employer to permit only that employment and those assignments which are not prohibited B Human Resources Contact With the above in mind any supervisor considering the employment of a minor must contact the University Human Resources Office for specific instructions C Law Enforcement Officer A person employed as a law enforcement officer must be at least twenty one 21 years of age III MAXIMUM AGE A law enforcement officer can retire with an unreduced benefit at age 55 with 5 years of credit as an officer or at any age after 30 years of credit reduced benefit after age 50 and 15 years of credit as an officer IV PHYSICAL INCAPABILITY TO WORK If through established medical examination procedures an employee is found not physically fit for the performance of his her duties by their physician the employee may be eligible

    Current position title Current salary Date and amount of most recent change in salary Date of most recent promotion demotion transfer suspension or other change in position classification Agency and location to which employee is currently assigned Record of Inquiries All disclosures of these records are accounted for by keeping a written record of the following information Name of employee Information disclosed Date information requested Name and address of the person to whom the disclosure is made Purpose for which the information is requested Any authorized individual examining a personnel record may copy the information The employee for which disclosure of records is requested is notified of the disclosure INCLUSION OF AND ACCESS TO CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION The university maintains in personnel records only information that is relevant to accomplishing personnel administration purposes Furthermore all information in an employee s personnel file not specified above is confidential RECORDS OF FORMER EMPLOYEES The provisions for access to records apply to former employees the same as they apply to present employees INFORMATION OBJECTIONABLE TO EMPLOYEE Employee Statements An employee who objects to material in his or her personnel file may place in the file a statement relating to the material he she considers

  • Employee Responsibilities
    Monday through Friday If the work is performed for another agency outside the employee s regular work schedule he she may receive additional pay Dual Employment The Dual Employment Policy is a State wide uniformed policy to be followed when one State agency secures the services of an employee of another State agency on a part time consulting or contractual basis The Human Resources Office should be contacted if a staff member has dual employment Public Relations Agent Each university employee represents Fayetteville State University and the State of North Carolina to everyone he she meets The impression employees give and the statements they make can influence what people think of FSU and the State Each employee is a public relations agent Public Information and Applicable Regulations Most information in State government is public therefore since the University is a State institution most information concerning the University is also public information However there are several State and Federal regulations that restrict the dispersing of information to the public To insure compliance with these regulations an employee requested to release specific information should do so within the following guidelines Student Information All requests for information on individuals enrolled at Fayetteville State University either past or present shall be referred to one of the following offices depending upon the nature of the request Placement Office Job placement information recommendations etc Registrar s Office Academic information records etc Student Development Office Disciplinary action Employee Information All requests for information on SHRA or EHRA personnel employed by Fayetteville State University either past or present shall be referred to the University Human Resources Office and all personnel information shall be released through that office Office of Record All requests for other types of information shall be referred to the office or department that maintains the

  • Work Schedule
    the nature of their work Normally an employee s daily work schedule is based on nine consecutive hours which includes one hour for lunch WORKWEEK The normal workweek for staff employees extends from Monday 12 01 A M through the following Sunday 12 00 midnight Staff employees are scheduled to work 40 hours during the workweek This is usually five 5 eight hour workdays If for emergency reasons an employee works more than 40 hours during the workweek the hours over 40 are overtime and are governed by the University overtime policy explained in Policy Statement 6 Pay and Compensation BREAK PERIOD There are no scheduled rest periods or breaks during the day for employees but the office head may grant the privilege of two short breaks The break period should not exceed ten 10 minutes at any one time and when it is granted it should be near the middle of the first an or second half of the workday If for any reason the employee does not receive a rest or break period it does not accrue to be granted at some later time or date This means the employee cannot combine two break periods nor can a

    month b Supervisors must review and approve their employees paper timesheets sign and submit to the Human Resources Office by 5 00 pm on the 3 rd calendar day of the following month c Shift Premium All shift premium is to be documented on the timesheet and will be included in the pay check issued at the end of the month d If the supervisor is not available to sign the paper timesheet then the employee should follow the chain of command The Leave Coordinator will not enter the data contained on an employee s paper timesheet without a supervisor s signature EHRA and SHRA Exempt Employees a It is recommended that employees enter their leave taken on a daily or weekly basis All leave taken or leave certification must be entered in Banner Self Service and submitted to their supervisor on the last working day of the month b Supervisors must review and approve their employees electronic leave reports by the 5 th calendar day of the following month c If the department supervisor is not available to approve their employee s electronic leave report then the supervisor must assign a proxy The Leave Coordinator will only approve electronic leave reports in rare circumstances and only if supporting documentation is submitted Temporary and Student Employees a It is recommended that employees enter their hours worked on a daily basis All hours worked must be entered in Banner Self Service and submitted to their supervisor on a bi weekly basis Electronic timesheets must be submitted prior to 8 00 am the Monday following the last day of the pay period refer to the bi weekly payroll calendar and web time entry due dates b Supervisors must sign in to Banner Self Service to review and approve their employee s electronic
