    a grant from the UNC system and is free to students Tuition and fees housing a meal plan and books are provided You should bring pens pencils and paper and you may wish to have pocket money for incidentals What if I have a family reunion have a summer job or have planned a vacation during the CHEER program CHEER is a four week full time experience During CHEER you will have classes and activities all day 6 days a week and part of Sunday If you cannot attend the entire program you cannot participate Can I go home at all during CHEER Students may leave campus on Sundays during the day as long as they are back for evening activities Students may not miss any required activities and must spend every night during the program on campus Should I attend First Steps if I am a CHEER student Yes At First Steps you will take your profile exams register for classes for fall and meet other CHEER students and faculty CHEER students must attend First Steps before coming to CHEER To register use the link you received in the mail or call the University College office at 910 672 1060 When does CHEER take place Move in day is Sunday July 10th and move out is Friday August 5th after the 1 30pm closing ceremony Parents are invited and encouraged to attend the closing Can I attend CHEER and then enroll at a different university The CHEER program is designed and intended for incoming freshmen at FSU and FSU pays for the program for those students If you attend CHEER but do not enroll at FSU in the fall you will be charged for the cost of tuition room and board Can I receive mail while I am at

    Register for First Steps freshman orientation by using the link you receive in the mail or by calling 910 672 1060 Remember that all CHEER students must come to First Steps before CHEER begins At First Steps you will take your profile exams and register for courses Return your filled out medical history and Immunizations Record to Student Health Services You do not need a full physical unless you play a sport are in marching band are a cheerleader or participate in a similar activity Submit your housing application for the fall and pay the houseing deposit if you plan to live on campus Fill out your FAFSA Free Application for Federal Student Aid to complete your Financial Aid process CHEER is paid for but you may need Financial Aid for the rest of your college education All borrowers must complete entrance counseling and a master promissory note To complete entrance counseling visit www dl ed gov To complete a master promissory note MPN visit www dlenote ed gov A federal pin number is required to complete both Visit www pin ed gov if you need to obtain one or need a duplicate sent to you Send an official copy

    first floor a conference room and full kitchen area There s also an additional common lobby on each of its four floors including a fitness room a computer lab and TV pool table room with a balcony view for students to enjoy as they lounge work out or conduct business and study McLeod Hall also has a patio and grassy courtyard for residents to enjoy The room you live in during CHEER will not be your room for the fall semester You will need to remove your belongings from your room when CHEER ends With that in mind you may wish to limit what you bring Keeping that in mind you are welcome to bring almost anything to make your room comfortable including rugs refrigerators DVD players dishes computers lamps and microwaves CHEER students must follow all Residence Life rules and regulations Violation of Residence Life regulations may result in dismissal from the program What should I bring comfortable clothes and shoes for class one dressy outfit athletic clothes and shoes if you wish to use the gym bathing suit if you wish to use the pool twin size XL bed linens and pillows telephone alarm clock iron and ironing board personal toiletries umbrella or rain gear small TV toilet tissue cleaning supplies toiletries cable cord ethernet cord converter is needed for older tvs for more information visit http www uncfsu edu Documents ResLife 2014 2015 Documents Is Your TV Digital Compatible pdf shower curtains are provided wi fi is available in the lobby ONLY students will be allowed to utilize the game room and workout facility appropriate attire required For more information or to request a roommate click here Move In Students will move in on Sunday July 10th at various times according to last name A mandatory meeting

    Shannon Manley 2014 2015 Graduate and Research Assistant smanley broncos uncfsu edu 910 672 2686 A cadre of My Brother s Peer Keepers who are upper division students well trained in peer mentoring Why Join As one student expressed The MILE is home away from home Another longstanding member stated that If not for the MILE I m not sure if I would still be in college I graduate in May 2015 An entering student who participated in the three day intensive Boosting Bronco Brothers Transition to FSU Initiative opined that The B3 was like a nav system that carefully and guided him successfully through his first year at FSU He finished the 2013 2014 AY with a 3 8 cumulative GPA despite being an average high school student Students join the B 3 and the MILE for various reasons The common thread is the sense of educational purpose that exudes the male initiatives Peer keepers are at the heart of students success in the initiatives They function as a GPS directing students in the right directions academically and personally while staff are mindful of keeping students away from the blind spots of college Regardless of background race age cultural affiliations and identities religion viewpoints academic talents all are welcome to join The MILE s sister organization Saving our Sisters SOS provides opportunities for women The MILE enjoys collaborative experiences and programs with SOS Women interested in joining SOS should contact Mrs April Raines at 910 672 1119 Some noteworthy accomplishments include Promising data about students who participate in the male initiatives For example 92 of students who participated in B 3 during the 2013 2014 academic year finished in good academic standing Members of the MILE on average had higher cumulative grade point averages than their counterparts Many B
