    Repositories in Health Disparities Research A Technical Assistance Summit held at the John A Burns School of Medicine University of Hawaii at Manoa in 2012 In 2007 he was designated Distinguished Alumni Epidemiology of the School of Public Health University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus Currently he leads CentIT2 the Center for Information Technologies and Telecommunications His interests include research telepresence REDCap applications and development and visualization of population based data Myrna Agostini BSCompEng Systems Programmer II Myrna Agostini has a bachelor s degree in computer engineering and excellent management skills She is also certified as an Internet2 Commons Site Videoconference Coordinator and has over ten years experience in informatics and technical support to research activities Her main responsibilities include videconference support technical support and portal management Alex Lora BS Systems Programmer II Alex Lora has a B S degree in computer systems installation and repair and has additional training in Microsoft desktop operating systems He has served as Support Technician Audiovisual Center Inter American University at Bayamón Computer Support Technician Center of Access Information Inter American University at Bayamón IT Support Staff Information Systems Division Universidad Central del Caribe and Systems Programmer II RCMI Program UPR Medical Sciences Currently he is responsible for technical support of Windows based systems including those connected to the LTQ XL MS MS Linear Ion Trap Mass Spectrometer System at the RCMI Proteomics facilty and the BioRad Chip Reader at the RCMI Human Molecular Genomics facility He also operates regular and HD videoconference systems and the Codian Tandberg MCU He is a Certified Internet2 Commons Videoconference Site Coordinator Mr Lora is the lead for technical support at CentIT2 Joseph Morris BS Joseph Morris has a BS degree in Computer Sciences from the Rio Piedras Campus of the University of Puerto Rico He has extensive experience with Linux based servers configuration management and operations Mr Morris is server systems manager and lead support staff for Mac systems at CentIT2 Brenda G Nieves BBA Systems Programmer II Brenda G Nieves holds a BBA in Information Systems She is currently the CentIT2 s webmaster web developer and REDCap support staff She has experience with Apache Plone DSpace Open Journal Systems PHP Webmin XHTML Zope Mailman SWISH E and SuSe Linux Ms Nieves has over 10 years experience and has worked as Systems Administrator Systems Programmer II Systems Programmer III and Systems Analyst in the public sector and is currently Systems Programmer II at the RCMI Program Medical Sciences Campus She is a Certified Internet2 Commons Videoconference Site Coordinator She will soon finish a PHP SQL Programming Certificate from the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign Office of Continuing Education Ms Nieves She leads the area of web applications development and maintenance including the REDCap database management system at CentIT2 Navigation Research Resources Core Facilities Network Translational Proteomics Center Center for Genomics in Health Disparities and Rare Diseases Translational Neuroscience Program Infectious and Global Diseases Research Program CentIT2 CentIT2 Staff Services Hardware and Software Tools Guidelines for Use

    Protection Office and the Puerto Rico Clinical ad Translational Research Consortium web portal Research Database Development REDCap is a robust easy to use database management system that is already in use for clinical research at the MSC However REDCap has also been used successfully for basic research in other institutions We will provide training and assistance to researchers in the use of REDCap for the creation and management of their research databases with the added benefit that the REDCap server is one of the servers connected to our backup system The REDCap server is maintained by personnel from the Puerto RIco Clinical and Translational Research Consortium Server Management CentIT2 staff currently manages 10 servers in support of key activities in the campus These include the RCMI Office administrative server CentIT2 s web server data storage servers for the Translational Proteomics Center the Puerto Rico Health Sciences Journal web server and the Libraria application server RCMI Program Campus Channel in YouTube CentiTI2 has resources for limited production and edition of videos for posting in the Medical Sciences Campus RCMI Channel in YouTube The channel also managed by CentIT2 currently hosts over 100 videos of research related activities held at or sponsored by campus units ranging between 12 and 90 minutes Technical Support Technical support services are provided primarily to RCMI Cores and investigators These include include in areas such as the creation of research databases with REDCap one to one videoconference applications such as Skype and iChat instrumentation operated through computer interfaces LTQ XL MS MS Linear Ion Trap Mass Spectrometer System and BioRad Chip Reader for example and laboratory desktop or laptop computers Navigation Research Resources Core Facilities Network Translational Proteomics Center Center for Genomics in Health Disparities and Rare Diseases Translational Neuroscience Program Infectious and Global Diseases Research Program
