    Goals News Newsletters and Guides Policies RSS Feeds Student Employment Suggestions Exhibit Dr Etoile DuBard Pioneer Teacher Inspiration To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the DuBard School for Language Disorders University Libraries in coordination with the DuBard School have designed an exhibit featuring Etoile DuBard founder of the DuBard School Dr Etoile DuBard Pioneer Teacher Inspiration will be on display in the lobby of Cook Library from November 7 2012 to January 18 2013 Etoile DuBard led a full and inspiring life From her naval career during WWII to her work with the education of children with speech language and hearing disorders dyslexia and other reading disabilities Etoile was an inspiration to those around her Over the course of her teaching career she helped thousands of children and their families From a multitude of students faced with language speech and hearing challenges to the university students who learned under her guidance and direction Etoile s scholarship compassion and generosity is reflected in the lives and work of all who had the privilege of calling her teacher professor mentor and friend The DuBard School for Language Disorders continues her work today For more information on the services offered by the DuBard

    Goals News Newsletters and Guides Policies RSS Feeds Student Employment Suggestions Science Café Blood Suckers Oct 29 2012 The University of Southern Mississippi Libraries Science Café will be held Monday Oct 29 2012 at 6 p m in the Cook Library Art Gallery LIB 105A located next to Starbucks This Science Café will feature the work of Dr Shahid Karim associate professor in the Department of Biological Sciences who is conducting research with disease transmitting agents present in ticks and other blood feeding organisms Understanding the interactions between organisms like ticks and the disease causing agents they carry might help in the development of strategies to combat some diseases Dr Karim will also show a short film on Lyme disease Hidden in the Leaves A Science Café s casual meeting place plain language and inclusive conversation create a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere for people whose primary background may not be science Each meeting is organized around an interesting scientific topic with a presenter usually a scientist giving a brief overview and showing a short video to kick off the discussion Science Cafés are free and open to the public For more information contact Tracy Englert at 601 266 6396 or
