    Feeds Student Employment Suggestions University Libraries Announce New Catalog June 2010 University Libraries announce new state of the art search technology that will make finding what the library has to offer easier and more engaging than ever before The new web based search engine called Encore will reveal content such as media and e books suggestions of recently added items in your area of interest tags or reviews added by library users faceted search results for easily modifying queries and pathways to relevant websites and library databases Library patrons can access all this from a single Google like search box This new catalog search method is available on library workstations and remotely at http encore lib usm edu In addition to Encore library patrons will also have access to a Classic Catalog with advanced searching features This method of finding materials gives patrons more robust searching options that include limiting searches by language material type and date ranges when conducting the search The Classic Catalog also provides access to links for Document Delivery course reserves and searching the archival digital collections This catalog can be found at http catalog lib usm edu but it can also be accessed by going

    are pleased to announce some changes that occurred in Cook Library during the 2009 10 semester break A partnership with iTech has incorporated the computing resources previously located in the iTech computer lab in room 105A into the Reference Services area on the first floor of Cook Library A total of 171 computers are now available including six workstations with assistive technology as recommended by the Office of Disability Accommodations six flatbed scanners and five Macintosh computers update Macintosh computers are no longer available in Cook Library All computer users in Cook Library will now be required to login prior to using the equipment Currently enrolled students and currently employed faculty and staff will login using their CampusID username and password the same login used to access SOAR Blackboard and e mail Library users will also notice that the current newspapers and current periodicals collections have been moved from 2nd Floor South to Reference Services The newspapers are now located at the south end of the first floor and the current periodicals journals and magazines are located at the start of the reference collection Cook Library is expanding its service hours by keeping the entire first floor of Cook Library
