    You must mail completed documents with attachment s to Admissions Office U S Merchant Marine Academy 300 Steamboat Road Kings Point New York 11024 1699 Completed DoDMERB Medical Exam Failing to disclose pre existing medical conditions that you were aware of which are discovered after reporting to the USMMA may result in medical separation and you may be ineligible for readmission Nominations from a proper nominating authority either a U S Representative or a U S Senator from your State of Residence Domicile Candidates for admission to the U S Merchant Marine Academy must be at least 17 years of age and not have passed their 25th birthday before 1 July of the year of admission Candidates for admission who have already graduated from high school and are applying while they are enrolled in an undergraduate college university program elsewhere have several additional requirements which must be met for admission consideration Those may be found under the Scholastic Requirements section of the Requirements portion of the Admissions website click here Applications You must complete an application no later than the March 1 application deadline You are strongly encouraged to complete this application early and must complete part 1 prior to receiving a nomination from your nominating authority Early filing of an application will expedite processing of your admission file Candidate Reply Date The Academy ascribes to the universal candidate reply date of May 1 All principal conditional and alternate appointees are required to notify the Academy either of accepting or declining their status by that date Apply On Line U S candidates for admission to the Academy may apply on line Privacy Act Statement In accordance with 5 USC 552a e 3 the following information is provided to you when supplying personal information to the Maritime Administration Authority which authorized

    5646 to schedule an appointment Any visit must be scheduled no later than the Thursday preceding the week of the desired visit Late last minute requests for visits will not be granted Day Visit Tuesday and Thursday Includes an admissions orientation briefing lunch with the Regiment of Midshipmen and attending afternoon classes with a host Plebe Students must arrive at the Admissions Center no later than 10 30 a m At that time they may meet with an admission recruiter who will provide information and answer questions At 12 Noon visiting students are paired with midshipman escorts for lunch in Delano Hall They then attend afternoon classes with their escorts and finish at approximately 4 p m Since the Academy is not authorized to pay the cost of meals for visiting students those electing to come for a Day Visit are required to bring payment for their lunch with them The cost is 7 00 which must be paid upon arrival check is preferred payable to Crystal Enterprises if paying by cash exact amount is required Overnight Visit Tuesday and Thursday This consists of an admissions orientation briefing and accompanied overnight stay Students must arrive at the Admissions Center no later than 10 30 a m At that time they may meet with an admissions recruiter who will provide information and answer questions At 12 00 Noon visiting students are paired with midshipman escorts for a lunch at Delano Hall They then attend afternoon classes and early evening activities such as sports practices and club meetings Visiting students will have dinner with the Regiment of Midshipmen in Delano Hall and will stay overnight in the midshipman escort s room The following morning they will have breakfast in Delano Hall and attend morning classes with their escort They finish their visit at the end of morning classes at approximately 12 Noon Since the Academy is not authorized to pay the cost of meals for visiting students those electing to come for an Overnight Visit are required to bring payment for their three 3 meals with them The cost is 21 00 which must be paid upon arrival check is preferred payable to Crystal Enterprises if paying by cash exact amount is required Parents and family members accompanying the student are invited to participate in the admissions orientation briefing However only the visiting student may attend meals and classes Parents and family members may continue to tour the Academy on their own Meals for parents and family members are available in the Seafarer Restaurant Overnight accommodations if needed can be arranged at local hotels Blackout Periods There are several periods during the year when escorted visits to the Academy are not available although a meeting and orientation briefing with an admissions representatives may be possible The weeks immediately before and after trimester final exams The week of trimester break and the first week of classes in the new academic trimester The weeks of the winter holiday break The period from Memorial Day
