    libraries to checkout privileges To obtain a borrowing card here visiting borrowers must present a photo ID and appropriate credentials issued by the home library No fee is charged for borrower cards obtained through these programs Borrowers must be at least 18 years old TexShare Library Card Program The TexShare Library Card Program is a reciprocal borrowing program coordinated by the Texas State Library The patrons of participating Texas public libraries and the students faculty and staff of participating Texas colleges and universities are eligible for this program which provides access to materials in many Texas libraries Research Library Cooperative Program RLCP A resource sharing program among the University of Texas at Austin the University of California Berkeley and Stanford University RLCP provides onsite and remote borrowing privileges to faculty professional academic staff and graduate students of the participating institutions The Reciprocal Faculty Borrowing Program This program is sponsored by the Association of Research Libraries OCLC Research Libraries Advisory Committee and provides access to many of the major research libraries in the United States and Canada RFBP is for faculty only The University of Texas System Reciprocal Borrowing Program This program provides access to materials at all University of Texas System component institutions and is for faculty only Texas Exes Members of the University of Texas Alumni Association may annually present verification of membership and a photo ID at the Courtesy Borrower Desk and receive a complimentary borrower card Blanton Museum Director s Circle Members Members of the Blanton Museum at the Founding Contributor and Patron levels are eligible for a complimentary borrower s card upon presentation of a photo ID at the Courtesy Borrower Desk Spouses and Domestic Partners of University of Texas at Austin Faculty and Staff Spouses and domestic partners of full time permanent classified staff professional staff and faculty may obtain Courtesy Borrower cards free of charge These cards are made according to the following policies and procedures The staff or faculty member whose spouse or domestic partner requests a card must be appointed full time The spouse or domestic partner must show a photo ID and provide documentation that he she resides at the same address as the staff or faculty member For example the spouse or partner s Texas driver s license or Texas state ID should show the same address as is listed for the faculty staff member For questions about providing this documentation contact Courtesy Borrower Services Cards are valid until the ending date of the staff or faculty member s appointment normally August 31 of each year Texas Residents Adult Texas residents not affiliated with institutions offering reciprocal borrowing privileges may upon showing proof of Texas residency and a photo ID pay a 100 annual fee to obtain borrowing privileges at the University of Texas Libraries Corporate Borrowers Corporations and organizations may pay a 400 annual fee to obtain five borrower cards for use by their authorized employees The organization assumes responsibility for prompt response to notices and billings and assigns

    Manuscripts Audio Visual Collections Mexican American Latino Manuscripts Mexican Manuscripts Rare Books Manuscripts Rules Latin American Manuscripts Digital Collections Locations Guide Rare Books and Manuscripts Division Holdings The Rare Books and Manuscripts section is a closed stack area which houses not only rare books and archival collections but also audio visual materials photographs sheet maps memorabilia and ephemera The oldest volume in the collection was published in Paris in 1491 formerly owned by Genaro García and the oldest New World imprint was published in Mexico in 1543 44 Manuscript and archival collections are subdivided into those relating to Latin America over 3 000 linear feet of materials and those relating to Mexican Americans and Latinas os in the U S nearly 4 000 linear feet Access to the holdings is through the Library Catalog through the Texas Archival Resources Online TARO list of archival finding aids or through in house files available in the Rare Books and Manuscripts reading room SRH 1 101 There are also online listings of Mexican American Latin Mexican and Latin American manuscripts processed by the Benson Latin American Collection Some very limited items from the Benson Collection s Rare Books and Manuscripts division have been digitized and are available for online viewing at TARO or in the University of Texas Digital Repository Visit the Selections page to see more Who May Use Rare Materials Materials in the Rare Books and Manuscripts section are available to anyone who wishes to use them and who agrees to abide by its regulations Patrons must present picture identification either a UT ID card or for visitors a driver s license passport or similar identification Materials may be used only in the section s reading room Pencils or computers are permitted for taking notes however any kind of ink pen

    Collection Exhibits A V Collection Media Room Reservations Streaming Video Collection Research Guide Audio Visual Collection About The Audio Visual Collection includes compact discs DVDs audio and videocassettes videodiscs phonodiscs and interactive media Holdings of these materials are listed in the Library Catalog CDs DVDs scores and other audiovisualformats can be found using the Music Search page of the library catalog The materials in this collection are acquired to meet the media needs of all faculty at the University of Texas at Austin The most active faculty users are from the College of Liberal Arts the College of Communication School of Architecture the College of Fine Arts and the other colleges and school at the University Purchasing and adding materials to meet faculty media needs is the chief role of the Media Coordinator The Booking Service available to UT Austin faculty is a key and unique service provided by the Fine Arts Library This service allows faculty to schedule specific films into their syllabi each semester The Media Coordinator works closely with faculty to make sure media titles are available and in good condition when they are needed for classroom screenings Many titles are available online as part of the

    at the Circulation Desks of other University of Texas Libraries and at external book drops The Fine Arts Library has external drops for books and for media located at the second floor entrance on the west side of the building Media can also be returned at a special drop to the right of the front doors of PCL Reserves materials must be returned to the Fine Arts Library Circulation Desk Reserve Lists of items on reserve are filed under instructor name and by course number in the University of Texas Library Catalog Books and media placed on closed reserve are available for limited loan periods at the Circulation Desk Digital reserves known as ERes provide students with online access to a variety of materials such as articles from journals pages from books and audiovisual materials which have been placed on reserve by instructors for students enrolled in their courses Reference and Instructional Services Reference assistance is available from trained personnel most hours the library is open Librarians may also be consulted by appointment For reference assistance please inquire at the Circulation Desk or contact a subject specialist Laura Schwartz Art David Hunter Music Beth Kerr Theatre Dance Gary Lay Audiovisual Sydney Kilgore Images Tours and group instruction on research methods and the use of library materials are offered Please consult a subject specialist for tours or instruction Reservations Media Booking This service allows faculty to schedule specific films The form is located here Study Room Media Room Reservations Study room reservations can be made online at the Group Study Room Reservation page Media Seminar Rooms are equipped with audiovisual equipment and can be reserved at the Media Seminar Room Reservation page Lockers Carrels and Doctoral Study Rooms Located on the third fourth and fifth floors of the Doty Fine Arts Building are approximately 200 lockers 100 carrels and 12 doctoral study rooms which are available for assignment to graduate students for storage of personal belongings and checked out library materials Graduate students may secure a LCS assignment by presenting a valid UT Austin ID at the Circulation Desk on or after September 10 January 5 or June 13 for the current semester Assignments continue for a single long semester or both summer terms and can be renewed online for subsequent semesters as long as a student remains enrolled Lockers Lockers are secured by key Fine Arts Library staff will not disclose to others a student s locker number or location Storing food and drink in lockers is prohibited Violation of this prohibition may be cause for withdrawal of the assignment Storing electronic equipment and other personal items is permissible but the University of Texas Libraries assumes no responsibility in the case of loss or damage to personal items Library personnel routinely inspect and remove all library materials not properly checked out in such case the locker is cleared as noted below and the locker assignment is immediately withdrawn Carrels A total of 12 individual study rooms on the 4th and
