    Email Chat Call Visit Home About the Libraries Library Administration Service Quality Assessment LibQual Library Administration Welcome Executive Staff Mission Vision Values Continuous Planning History State of the Libraries Library Information Organizational Charts Library Policies Annual Reports Library Committees Advisory Council Student Library Council Library Assessment Service Quality Assessment LibQual Quality Council Staff Awards About Staff Awards Billings Staff Honors Award Library Excellence Awards Nilsson Scholarship University Outstanding Staff and Supervisor Award LibQual What is LibQUAL LibQUAL is a suite of services that can be used to assess and improve library services The largest component is a web based survey The survey is based on SERVQUAL a popular tool for assessing service quality in the private sector The Association of Research Libraries ARL partnered with Texas A M University Libraries in 2001 to adapt SERVQUAL to meet the particular requirements of libraries and they developed LibQUAL More than 500 colleges universities community colleges health sciences libraries law libraries and public libraries have used LibQUAL services The LibQUAL survey has been given at UT Austin since 2001 and the results are available as PDFs in the left hand column The ways that people use libraries are changing circulation and the number of reference transactions are decreasing while the use of online resources is increasing dramatically The results of the survey help library administration spot trends in service quality and find out where scarce resources need to be focused The survey measures 3 aspects of library service Affect of Service Assessing the attitudes and abilities of employees Library as Place Evaluating the library environment and its facilities Information Control Can library users navigate the library and its resources on their own terms i e I want what I want when I want it in the format I want it in More information

    Library Information Organizational Charts Library Policies Annual Reports Library Committees Advisory Council Student Library Council Library Assessment Service Quality Assessment LibQual Quality Council Staff Awards About Staff Awards Billings Staff Honors Award Library Excellence Awards Nilsson Scholarship University Outstanding Staff and Supervisor Award Quality Council The Quality Council will resolve environmental issues reported by Libraries staff and the public through the LibQUAL survey and other listening tools The work of the council will be based primarily on qualitative data gathered via these tools Quality council members will review the issues they receive and work together to come up with appropriate responses The suggested solutions will be presented to the Libraries Administrative Council for approval prior to implementation Quality Council members include eleven members selected from Libraries staff representing as many different areas as possible and two additional members one each from the Classified and Professional Staff Affairs Committees Members serve two year terms with the members from CSAC and PSAC serving through the end of their terms on their respective committees Sources of input for the Quality Council LibQUAL survey results and comments 2003 through current year Staff events e g All Staff Planning sessions Customer Service Training Comment boxes

    Library Council Library Assessment Service Quality Assessment LibQual Quality Council Staff Awards About Staff Awards Billings Staff Honors Award Library Excellence Awards Nilsson Scholarship University Outstanding Staff and Supervisor Award Staff Awards Staff members in the University of Texas Libraries are eligible for recognition through programs at The University of Texas at Austin and in the Libraries acknowledging outstanding achievement and service Harold W Billings Staff Honors Award This quarterly award recognizes outstanding work performance by staff members whose resourcefulness dedication and ability help navigate the University of Texas Libraries through often uncharted seas Library Excellence Award Library Excellence Awards are given to professional librarians and classified staff in the University of Texas Libraries who have made extraordinary contributions Nilsson Scholarship The University of Texas Libraries recognizes and rewards the dedication and hard work of its student employees by offering the Nilsson Scholarship This Scholarship is awarded to one undergraduate student employee each academic year and has been made possible by the generosity of David O Nilsson Dr Nilsson is a retired special instructor in mathematics at the University of Texas at Austin and received all of his academic degrees B A M A and Ph D at the University Since his retirement he continues an active life in Austin as an accountant and high school tutor and spends many hours each week working on various research projects at UT s Perry Castañeda and Fine Arts Libraries University Outstanding Staff and Supervisor Award The University of Texas at Austin Outstanding Staff and Supervisor Awards Program honors and recognizes the invaluable contributions of eligible non teaching employees whose outstanding dedication competence conscientious performance excellent customer service or ingenuity has had a significant impact on the university Read more about the Outstanding Staff and Supervisor Awards on the UT site UT Exemplary
