    in the state Be enrolled full time nine 9 semester credit hours in a course of study and Maintain good academic standing Documentation Professional Nurse Traineeship Guidelines Evaluation for Traineeship Applicants Professional Nurse Traineeship Information Student Information for Traineeship Awards Application for a Federal Professional Nurse Traineeship The completed two 2 page application must be submitted to the Office of Academic Affairs at the following address The University of Texas School of Nursing at Houston Office of Academic Affairs 6901 Bertner Avenue Suite 841 Houston Texas 77030 Deadlines Applications must be received by July 15th in order to be considered for the new grant period which starts with the fall semester Applications are kept on file and will be considered throughout the academic year as funding becomes available Applications must be updated on a yearly basis for continued consideration Appointments Students appointed to receive this award will be notified in writing by the Office of Academic Affairs An initial Professional Nurse Traineeship appointment must be made for at least nine 9 months of study Students awarded the professional nurse traineeship will receive tuition fee payment for nine 9 semester credit hours and a monthly stipend for this nine 9 month appointment Students receiving this award qualify for in state tuition and fees Restrictions Students may accept federal grant funds from only one 1 source at a time and funding may not exceed 36 months MSN students enrolled as 2nd and 3rd year nurse anesthesia students will not receive this particular award Nurse Anesthesia students are encouraged to check with their Program Director regarding the possibility of funding through the Nurse Anesthesia Professional Nurse Traineeship grant The Professional Nurse Traineeship award will not pay liability or hospital insurance property deposit tuition for more than nine 9 semester hours tuition for courses

    Any requests received directly from students will not be processed Requesting access Complete the online account request form Be sure to use your UT email address on the form as forms with outside addresses e g Gmail Yahoo will not be processed Processing usually takes 5 7 days You will be sent your login information via email when your account has been created Adding a site or preceptor Log in to Typhon and see if your desired clinical site and preceptor are already listed You ll need to know this when completing the form The easiest way to check for your site and preceptor is to do so from within the Add New Case Log screen Click on Add New Case Log from the Typhon main screen Click Today or enter the date in the Date of Encounter dialog then click Save Data Use the Preceptor and Clinical Site dropdowns to look for your selections Make a note as to whether they are there missing or listed as Inactive at the bottom of the list Make sure and click the red CANCEL button when finished to avoid actually creating a case Complete the site preceptor request form Be sure to

    for addressing this problem Spurred by a 500 000 challenge grant from The George Foundation of Fort Bend County a successful 2 million fundraising effort was directed by the school s development office with leadership by members of the School of Nursing Advisory Council chaired by George R Farris The initiative was conceived as a tribute to Starck s 25 years of service as dean of the nursing school and has been named in her honor The Patricia L Starck Accelerated Ph D Scholars Program Dean Starck has done such a wonderful job recruiting the best nursing faculty that it was natural for the Advisory Council to want to support her efforts and also honor her 25 years as dean by taking a leadership role in this exciting project said Farris Support mostly came from local healthcare organizations and foundations as well as the nursing school s volunteer Advisory Council which not only championed this cause in the middle of a recession but also achieved 88 percent gift participation by its membership and collectively contributed 186 000 Each doctoral scholar carries the title of an organization that made a gift to the AccPhD initiative of at least 60 000 per year for the three years These named scholars are the Cullen Trust for Health Care Scholar Christina Nunez MSN RN The George Foundation Scholars two Stacy Crandall MSN MPH RN and Angela Joy Nash MSN RN the Hamill Foundation Scholar Sandra Branson MSN RN the Kissito Healthcare Scholar Lisa Boss MSN RN the Memorial Hermann Hospital System Scholar Luba Yammine MSN RN the School of Nursing Advisory Council Scholar Susanne K Lim MSN RN the Texas Children s Hospital Scholar Anitra Frederick MSN RN The UT M D Anderson Cancer Center Scholar Faith Strunk MSN RN and the Vivian L
