    assistant vice president for Institutional Assessment and Enhancement at The University of Texas Health Science Center UTHealth at Houston In this role she will assist the Office of Academic and Research Affairs and UTHealth schools in assessment and evaluation processes to foster continuing improvement in instructional quality She will also provide expertise in the development of UTHealth s accreditation reporting including documentation for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools SACS Commission on Colleges Rozmus has served on multiple SACS evaluation committees including service as committee chair in the accreditation reviews of other institutions She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her new position During the most recent SACS reaffirmation of accreditation at UTHealth Rozmus played a major role and helped lead the development and implementation of the institution wide Quality Enhancement Plan QEP Rozmus will continue as the PARTNERS Professor and associate dean for academic affairs at the School of Nursing She also is a faculty associate of the McGovern Center for Humanities and Ethics and will continue to work with the campus wide ethics program Prior to joining UTHealth in 2007 Rozmus served as a department chair dean and vice president of academic affairs at public

    in lieu of her program coordinator position I want her to have the time to write about the success of this Ph D program and to share her expertise with other schools around the nation I have plenty of projects in the dean s office waiting for her assistance The dean credited Baun with the idea for creating the Accelerated Ph D Scholars program in 2010 noting that the first cohort of 10 students will graduate in August Based on this initial success the school now is undertaking a fundraising initiative for a second group of students The innovative Patricia L Starck Accelerated Ph D Scholars Program which is entirely supported with funds raised from local healthcare organizations foundations and other philanthropic sources is designed to produce more faculty level nurses and thus help to increase nursing school enrollment and ultimately the number of nurses working in the community Dean Starck cited several highlights of Dr Baun s administrative tenure including Making the UTHealth School of Nursing one of the first institutions in the state and nation to develop gain all levels of approval offer and evaluate the use of distance education for doctoral nursing programs As a result we have allowed nurses in all parts of the state to acquire a first class doctoral education said Starck who is the Huffington Foundation Chair for Nursing Education Leadership and the John P McGovern Distinguished Professor of Nursing Leading the effort to have our Doctor of Science in Nursing D S N degree program changed to a Ph D in Nursing which required a rigorous process and a persuasive proposal to the Texas Higher Education Board Since that time Dr Baun has become known as an expert in degree conversion and she is in demand to assist other universities to get
