    Email Library Resources For Students Faculty Staff Alumni Friends Parents Family Community Search UWRF CRSCA CRSCA Submission Form Celebrating Research Scholarship and Creative Achievement CRSCA is an annual event coordinated by the Office of the Provost Grants and Research and the Chalmer Davee Library This celebration is designed to recognize the intellectual and creative achievements of faculty and staff of the University of Wisconsin River Falls by honoring the work that goes on outside of the classroom The celebration has been held annually since 2003 Each spring semester the library displays the articles books academic posters fine and performance art playbills and other items produced by UW River Falls faculty and staff during the previous calendar year All submissions are cited in a CRSCA booklet and the celebration culminates in an annual reception to honor the faculty and staff who submitted work This year s celebration will take place Tuesday April 1 2014 from 3 30 p m 4 30 p m Guidelines Submissions are limited to current UW River Falls faculty and staff All work must have been published funded presented or exhibited during the previous calendar year Submissions may include but are not limited to monographs journal articles

    Hall McMillan Hall Melvin Wall Amphitheatre North Hall Parker Hall Prucha Hall R A Karges Center Ramer Field Regional Development Institute Robert P Knowles Physical Education and Recreation Center South Hall Stratton Hall The Richard D Swensen Sundial Construction of the Richard D Swensen Sundial Design of the Richard D Swensen Sundial How to read the Richard D Swensen Sundial Images of the Richard D Swensen Sundial Location of the Richard D Swensen Sundial Time Lapse Sequence University Center W H Hunt Arena Walker D Wyman Education Centennial Science Hall Map View History of Centennial Science Hall The sciences have always been a significant part of the teacher education curricula at River Falls partly because of the curricula in Agriculture and in secondary education but also because of the preprofessional programs in medicine veterinary science and other fields The departments in biology chemistry and other sciences have been located in North Hall and other quarters from time to time but not until 1977 did the sciences have a new home when they moved into the Physical Science Building The 3 9 million building became the new home of chemistry physics and psychology The sciences then had classrooms study and lounge areas and laboratories with adequate equipment to continue the teaching fields At the dedication of the building on April 26 29 1979 the name was formally changed to Centennial Science Building since its construction had begun in the 100th anniversary of the University of Wisconsin River Falls On that occasion Chancellor Field called the new building a milestone for the sciences at UW River Falls which have always been strong areas of study here On this occasion the 22nd Symposium in Chemistry for undergraduates was held and over the years Centennial Science Hall has been the scene of many conferences

    Swensen Sundial Design of the Richard D Swensen Sundial How to read the Richard D Swensen Sundial Images of the Richard D Swensen Sundial Location of the Richard D Swensen Sundial Time Lapse Sequence University Center W H Hunt Arena Walker D Wyman Education Central Heating Plant Map View Relocated from behind South Hall in 1964 the Central Heating Plant was designed to provide steam service to a growing campus community A central plant is safer and more economical than if each building had its own boiler The steam that the plant makes is used to heat water cook food run sterilizers humidifiers pasteurizers distillers and clothes dryers along with its main job of providing heat for the buildings Typically we burn coal in the winter due to its normally lower cost and gas in the summer because of the coal boilers inability to operate at low loads Fuel oil is our emergency stand by fuel should the coal or gas supply be interrupted The plant generates 338 degree steam which travels through several miles of underground pipe to the buildings where it gives up its heat and converts back to water and is pumped back to the plant for reuse Steam is delivered at 100 psi and is reduced to 5 7 psi for use in the buildings To prevent corrosion and scale build up we monitor water going into the boiler and coming back from the buildings It is essential to have a good water treatment program to protect the boiler and piping systems The ability to fire coal helps keep the average annual fuel bill at 700 000 but it also increases environmental concerns The DNR issues operating permits based on particulate and sulfur dioxide tests taken near the top of the 163 foot smokestack We have
