    Academics Admissions Campus Life Athletics Quick Links A Z Search Directory News Event Calendar D2L eSIS Email Library Resources For Students Faculty Staff Alumni Friends Parents Family Community Search UWRF Teacher Education Undergraduate Students Undergraduate Students How to Apply Undergraduate Programs Consortium for Overseas Student Teaching FAQs WeTEACH PURPOSE Across the state region and nation there is an acute need for highly qualified professional educators in the fields of science technology engineering and math By the year 2015 it is projected that the United States will need 280 000 new PK 12 science and math teachers Not only is there an escalating necessity for skilled science and math teachers but there is a critical need to diversify the teaching population As the regional and national student populations have become increasingly diverse the pool of teacher candidates from diverse backgrounds has stagnated PROGRAM The We TEACH program is a student development program created to address challenges in both the recruitment and retention of prospective teachers from historically underrepresented populations in education and students seeking teacher certification in the high need disciplines of science mathematics and TESOL SERVICES We TEACH facilitates the provision of academic assistance peer networking supplemental advising Praxis preparation and activities that enhance the success of K 12 teaching candidates The We TEACH program meets as a large group at least once a month and the We TEACH advisor is available to meet students as often as necessary MEMBERSHIP Current and future UWRF students are eligible to participate in the WeTEACH program if they are From a historically underrepresented population in education Students of color pursuing a degree in any teacher education field Males pursuing a degree in Elementary Education Females pursuing a degree in Math or Science Education Pursuing a teaching license in a high need low supply

    variety of majors Writing Center tutors are carefully chosen and trained to help students make improvements in their writing The Director of the Writing Center is Professor Mialisa Moline of the English Department The Writing Center is not a proofreading rewriting or correcting service or a guarantee of better grades It is a place where tutors can help students learn to write more effectively on their own Who can benefit by going to the Center Undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in classes from all subject areas can visit the Center for assistance in all stages of the writing process pre writing organizing writing revising in order to improve as writers When can students use the Center Students can stop by the Center anytime however we encourage students to meet with a tutor on a regular basis if they want to significantly improve their writing Each tutor works a limited number of hours students need to make an appointment ahead of time An Introduction for Students on How to Use the Writing Center Welcome to the Writing Center We understand that asking for assistance with your writing may be difficult Each of us assumes that we should be able to write well without any effort The truth is that almost everyone feels anxious about writing and that nearly everyone s writing needs objective feedback and positive reinforcement The Writing Center is the right place to get that kind of assistance Writing involves many steps thinking re thinking re stating organizing re organizing expanding deleting re explaining and so forth Writing is time consuming and sometimes frustrating We would like to simplify this process as much as we can first by getting to know you and how you think and write then by pointing out your writing strengths and encouraging you to
