    undergraduate summer During the academic year Scholars interested in completing a summer service project must attend all of the monthly Summer Project workshops Scholars submit a written proposal that extensively outlines the objectives of their work Each Ingram Scholar will have the opportunity to develop at least one summer service project Scholars will be strongly encouraged to do their first project in the United States followed by the possibility of doing the second project abroad The standard stipend for these projects will be 5 000 Learn more by watching this video clip Please peruse our project database by either using our interactive map or searchable directory Faculty Fellows After having completed at least one summer service project Scholars may choose to pursue a research service project with a Vanderbilt faculty mentor Students will receive a stipend of 5 000 and the faculty mentor will receive a stipend of 5 000 While the Scholar will still be responsible for eight weeks of a service project the faculty member s involvement can vary Past examples include a one week inclusive service trip to the Flathead Reservation in Montana with Best Buddies a four week music in genocide project in Rwanda a film exchange between high school aged girls of a local camp and local senior citizens in rural Alabama partnering with Vanderbilt social entrepreneurship professor to launch start up Triple Thread Apparel in Nashville TN Summer Internships Scholars will also be encouraged to pursue summer internships that fit into their career and service plans Back Home GO Key Dates 12 01 2015 Ingram Scholarship Program High School Seniors applications due 03 15 2016 Ingram Scholarship Program Current Vanderbilt First Year Sophomore Students applications due MORE KEY DATES Recent News Reminder Deadline for Women s Center award nominations Feb 26 February 15 2016

    more recent book is The History of Latin America Collision of Cultures Palgrave Macmillan 2007 Eakin has taught a wide variety of courses in history and Latin American studies at all levels from freshmen to Ph D students These include Colonial and Modern Latin America Brazilian Civilization Visions of Amazonia Reform and Revolution in Latin America and the History Workshop On several occasions he has offered courses for the Vanderbilt Osher Lifelong Learning Program He has team taught courses with faculty in Engineering Divinity and Peabody College Over the past fifteen years he has been deeply involved in service learning courses and programs Eakin became the Faculty Director of the Ingram Scholarship Program in July 2009 During the 2014 2015 academic year he is on research leave to complete his latest book project One People One Nation Brazilian Identity in the Twentieth Century with a likely publication in late 2015 Marshall Eakin has taught at Vanderbilt since 1983 The Ingram Scholarship Faculty Director serves as the spokesperson for the Ingram Scholarship Program acting as a liaison between Vanderbilt administrators and members of the Ingram family directly involved with the program He also oversees all aspects of the scholarship The Faculty Director monitors each Scholar s fulfillment of the program requirements and works with Ingram Scholar Advisors and faculty in the development of various Ingram seminars and workshops The Faculty Director is also directly involved in the selection of new Ingram Scholars Finally he regularly evaluates the program and implements changes consistent with the original intent of the program Founding Director Ann Neely served as the Faculty Director for the Ingram Scholarship Program from 1994 2009 She is an Associate Professor of Education Before coming to Vanderbilt Ann earned her B S and M Ed in elementary education at Auburn University

    implementation of marketing materials brochures website and other promotional materials She assists with new Scholar recruitment and selections arranging campus visits and interviews The coordinator also schedules programs and events with the Ingram family and organizes those events The program coordinator plans and coordinates orientation with staff and Scholars and assists them with program activities during the year She helps plan the biennial Ingram Scholarship Program Alumni Reunion and maintains yearlong contact with Scholars alumni advisors and the Faculty Director Bryn Sierra Bryn Sierra is the Summer Program Coordinator and has been involved with the Ingram Scholarship Program since December 2006 She has previously worked as a 4th grade teacher Sylvan instructor graduate teaching assistant and library aid Bryn received her bachelor s degree in Elementary Education from Florida State University In 2007 she completed her M Ed in Curriculum and Instructional Design with a concentration in Reading Education at Peabody College In 2010 she completed an M S in Information Sciences through University of Tennessee Knoxville specializing in school library media Bryn grew up in a military family and continues to love to travel and explore always with a book in hand She and her husband David Sierra live in Nashville with their new baby Elin and enjoy anything outdoors with their Australian Shepherds Inca and Sky The Summer Program Coordinator is responsible for leading a monthly seminar and workshop for those wanting to conduct a summer project internship or Faculty Fellows partnership She guides and mentors the proposal writing and revision process its defense and approval While at their summer project sites Scholars will check in with the summer program coordinator with weekly updates Finally the summer program coordinator guides and monitors the final reports and presentations at the beginning of the new academic year She is also

    Athletics Department as Associate Athletics Director Senior Woman Administrator and her responsibilities include oversight for Women s Basketball Lacrosse and Student Services Compliance Academic Support Life Skills A former women s basketball player at Vanderbilt Candice earned her bachelor s degree in Human and Organizational Development in 2000 She later earned a master s degree in Human Development Counseling 2002 and a doctorate in Higher Education Leadership and Policy 2012 also from Vanderbilt She and her husband Sean reside in Murfreesboro Carrie Russell earned her Bachelor s degree from Rhodes College in Memphis her law degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law and her PhD from Vanderbilt University She has served Vanderbilt in the roles of Program Director for the Center for the Study of Democratic Institutions Pre major Academic Adviser for the College of Arts and Science and is currently the Pre law adviser for Vanderbilt University and the Director of Undergraduate Studies for the Department of Political Science Carrie serves as a Vanderbilt Visions leader Ingram Scholar Adviser faculty adviser for the Undergraduate Political Science Association and the Vanderbilt pre law society and teaches Public Law and Public Policy courses as a Senior Lecturer Carrie s research interests include Public Law Judicial Politics and Race and Public Policy Before earning her PhD from Vanderbilt Carrie worked as a Judicial Clerk for Davidson County Tennessee s Twentieth Judicial District Brent Tener currently serves as Director of Financial Aid and Scholarships at Vanderbilt University and has worked in financial aid for over 20 years He has presented numerous times at national regional and state associate conferences regarding electronic processes and how these may be used to enhance the day to day operation of the financial aid office Prior to Vanderbilt Brent worked at Wichita State University in Admissions and in Financial Aid He has been involved in varying capacities with the Tennessee Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators TASFAA the Southern Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators SASFAA and the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators NASFAA He has served as TASFAA President during the 2001 2002 year and as SASFAA President during the 2006 2007 year He is a past member of the NASFAA Board of Directors and currently serves as a member of the NASFAA Reauthorization Task Force Brent graduated from Wichita State University with a B A in Political Science and a M Ed in Counseling with an emphasis in Higher Education Administration He and his wife Stacy have two sons Mitchell born in April 2000 and Bryson born in February 2002 His hobbies include watching football basketball and baseball He is also actively involved in Boy Scouts serving as Troop Scoutmaster Joe Wehby received his Ph D from Vanderbilt after having taught children and youth with learning and behavior problems in a residential setting For the past 25 years he has been on faculty in Peabody s Department of Special Education His research is in the areas of aggressive behavior among students with
