  • Vet Tech Institute :: About Vet Tech Institute Veterinary Technician Program
    College Faculty Members Include Susan Starr D V M obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences and a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Missouri Columbia Prior to joining the faculty Dr Starr worked for over 11 years growing and managing small animal practices including Tender Care Animal Hospital Cloud Veterinary Center Rock Road Animal Hospital Paw Patch Animal Hospital and Hazelwood Animal Hospital Dr Starr currently provides instruction and oversight for the surgery and chemistry courses She is a member of the Missouri Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association Elizabeth Cook RVT graduated from Concordia University Wisconsin with a Bachelor of Art in Parish Music She went on to complete her Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology at Madison Area Technical College She has worked as a veterinary technician assistant for Lodi Veterinary Hospital a certified veterinary technician at The Veterinary Specialty Hospital of the Carolinas VSH and as a registered veterinary technician at Kingsbury Animal Hospital Mrs Cook joined the staff of the Vet Tech Institute at Hickey College and teaches courses in Veterinary Medical Terminology Animal Technology and Clinical Medicine Her experience in both specialty and general practice has given her a variety of skills that she can pass on to her students Courtney Frey RVT graduated as Magnum cum Laude from Northern Virginia Community College with an Associate Degree in Veterinary Technology She also obtained a Bachelor Degree in English from the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg Virginia Courtney has worked at the Oakton Vienna Veterinary Hospital The Hope Center for Veterinary Medicine Emergency Department in Vienna Virginia and most recently at Associated Veterinary Specialists in St Louis Missouri Robin Graham RVT graduated with honors from the Vet Tech Institute at Hickey College with a Veterinary Technician Associate Degree She helped implement the Student Chapter National Association of Veterinary Technician s in America SCNAVTA at the college and served as the first class president Ms Graham previously worked at Veterinary Specialty Services and joined the Vet Tech Institute where she is an instructor and Kennel Manager teaching courses in Animal Technology and Anatomy and Physiology Andrea Kohnen RVT graduated from Lincoln Memorial University with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science with a concentration in Business She teaches courses in Clinical Pathology and Clinical Medicine and is the Student Council Advisor at the Vet Tech Institute at Hickey College Along with the students she helped develop the SCNAVTA program for the college She worked at Horseshoe Lake Animal Hospital as a technician prior to working at Hickey College Her clinical experience has aided her in developing laboratory and communication skills required to be a successful veterinary technician Deborah Wilson RVT graduated from Columbia State Community College with an Associate degree in Veterinary Technology in 1981 She has over 25 years of clinical experience with the last ten of those years at Veterinary Specialty Services in Manchester MO Ms Wilson is a Missouri Master Naturalist and a dog agility enthusiast She
