    to VMI Legacy Gifts at Work Shaara Program Perpetuates the Legacy Shaara Scholarship Perpetuates the Legacy Jeff Shaara Author Preserve Our Legacy History and Heritage From the New Market battlefield to the Stonewall Jackson House and the VMI Museum the Institute s heritage is unlike that of any other college or university and it is treasured by VMI alumni who tread in the footsteps of those who have contributed so much over the history of our nation As VMI looks forward to its third century increased funding is needed to preserve this heritage and tell VMI s remarkable story Funds are needed too for renovation of Moody Hall the hub of alumni activity a gathering place for alumni and guests and a venue for conferences and ceremonies Your support will help safeguard these facilities and preserve VMI s 175 year old heritage for future generations of cadets alumni and friends Moody Hall Whether for a home football game or a conference sponsored by the Center for Leadership and Ethics Moody Hall is a focus of activity on post Funding for renovations will address the wear caused by decades of intense use New Market The Battle of New Market is the Institute s proudest moment and the New Market cadets provide an example against which today s cadets measure themselves Planned renovations will improve how the story of the battle and of the cadets courage determination and sacrifice are told Museum System The VMI Museum on post and the Stonewall Jackson House in downtown Lexington offer programming for the Corps of Cadets and the public Providing more annual and endowed resources will support the operation and maintenance of these emissaries of the VMI legacy VMI Foundation Keydet Club Alumni Webcams Directories My VMI CAMPAIGN RESOURCES Video Campaign Cabinet Policies VMI Foundation

    The three components of VMI annual giving are the Foundation Fund the Keydet Club Scholarship Fund and the Athletic Operations Fund Respectively they provide unrestricted money for academic and co curricular programs grant in aid assistance for cadet athletes and operating funds for intercollegiate athletic programs Endowments Endowments Whether restricted or unrestricted an endowment is a permanent fund that over time provides increasing support for VMI Donors can contribute to endowment funds that support scholarships for cadets provide sustained resources for faculty support professorships academic departments and other activities and produce unrestricted funds for VMI A minimum gift of 25 000 is required to endow an unrestricted fund and a minimum gift of 50 000 is necessary to establish a restricted fund Planned Giving Planned Giving Planned giving vehicles such as bequests charitable gift annuities and trusts are among the most popular ways to support the Institute and meet your financial and philanthropic goals For more information visit http www vmilegacy org Resources Donor Bill of Rights The VMI Foundation and the VMI Keydet Club support the Donor Bill of Rights as adopted by many organizations such as the Council for Advancement and Support of Education which states that philanthropy is based on voluntary action for the common good To assure that philanthropy merits the respect and trust of the general public and that donors and prospective donors can have full confidence in the causes they are asked to support donors in support of VMI have the following rights 1 To be informed of the VMI Foundation s and VMI Keydet Club s mission of the way the VMI Foundation and the VMI Keydet Club intend to use donated resources and of their capacities to use donations effectively for their intended purposes 2 To be informed of the identity of
