    67 Every Alumnus Should Give Back Extracurricular activities are very important They re critical for making cadets successful and the VMI education unique James E Rogers 67 James E Rogers 67 believes so strongly in Virginia Military Institute that he s now helping to lead his second capital campaign for VMI From 1998 to 2004 Rogers helped to lead Reveille A Call to Excel which raised 207 million Now the longtime Richmond business and civic leader who also has served as the VMI Foundation s president and a vice president of the VMI Board of Visitors is a vice chairman of An Uncommon Purpose A Glorious Past An Brilliant Future The Campaign for VMI Giving back he believes is an obligation for alumni all of whom were recipients of others generosity when they were cadets When I think back over the years private support has been one third of the cost to attend VMI he said We have an obligation to pay back to VMI what was used to support our education Every alumnus should give back For Rogers supporting Corps life which includes the ROTC units and club sports as well as the regimental structure is vital to maintaining the uniqueness of the VMI experience Commonality of purpose is important to the Corps of Cadets Rogers noted While at VMI Rogers a physics major was a member of the track and field team president of the Sigma Phi Sigma physics honor society and a member of the Honor Court He credits the VMI experience for his later success in the business world at first in the paper industry and then in the investment management field Supporting the Corps life dimension of VMI is very important to me he commented Extracurricular activities are very important They re critical for making

    E Jimmy Rogers 67 Vice Chairman James E Jimmy Rogers 67 Vice Chairman Mr Rogers retired as the president of SCI Investors Inc a private equity investment firm in 2011 His long record of service to the Institute includes serving as the president of the VMI Foundation from 2000 to 2002 and as a member of the VMI Board of Visitors from 2004 to 2012 He has served on the Jackson Hope Fund s Board of Overseers from 2002 to the present Conrad M Hall 65 Vice Chairman Conrad M Hall 65 Vice Chairman Currently the Managing Director of Jamestown Capital LLC and formerly the president and CEO of Dominion Enterprises a leading media and marketing information services company Mr Hall has actively supported VMI for many years He was a trustee of the VMI Foundation from 1996 to 2004 and from 2002 to 2004 the Foundation s president He rejoined the Foundation s Board of Trustees in 2008 and he was the chairman of the VMI Investment Committee from 2008 to 2009 From 2009 to 2010 he was the chairman of VMI Investments LLC He was appointed to the Institute s Board of Visitors in 2014 John P Jumper 66 John P Jumper 66 General Jumper served in the U S Air Force for 39 years closing his career as its 17th Chief of Staff from 2001 to 2005 While in the Air Force he often returned to Post acting as the Air Force commissioning officer several times and speaking on numerous occasions including the 2001 Institute Society Dinner Joining the VMI Foundation s Board of Trustees in 2008 he was appointed to the Institute s Board of Visitors in 2009 He is the former Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Leidos a Fortune 500 science and technology company and serves on the boards of numerous corporations and non profit organizations William A Bill Paulette 69 William A Bill Paulette 69 Mr Paulette is the founder and president of KBS Inc the largest locally owned construction firm in Central Virginia He was a member of the VMI Board of Visitors from 2002 to 2010 and he served as one of the Board s three vice presidents from 2008 to 2010 A strong supporter of VMI athletics he has devoted many years to the VMI Keydet Club He served on its board from 1990 to 2002 he rejoined the Keydet Club after leaving the Board of Visitors and now is the organization s president Walter C Perrin II 62 Walter C Perrin II 62 Like his father David B Perrin 25 Mr Perrin is strongly devoted to VMI He was on the Foundation s Board of Trustees from 1997 to 2005 service that included a stint as a vice president from 2003 to 2005 He returned to the Board of Trustees in July 2006 and his fellow trustees elected him as president in 2008 a position in which he served for three years He is a retired
