    P 540 464 7104 F 540 464 7660 Email the Office 201 Smith Hall Virginia Military Institute Lexington VA 2445 Getting here getting around getting fed Driving Directions Parking The first event of the day is in Cameron Hall which is about a five minute walk from the Parade Ground Signs will direct you how to park on the Parade Ground weather permitting Shuttle service to Cameron Hall will be available from Moody Hall Weather permitting Parade Ground parking will be available beginning at 6 15 a m Vehicle entry onto the Parade Ground will be in front of Marshall Museum Shuttle services will be provided from VMI Post locations to Cameron Hall from 7 a m until 4 p m In the event that the Parade Ground is closed for parking due to inclement weather shuttle services will be provided from the Lowe s parking lot An information table with brochures will be set up in front of Preston Library Unloading Baggage Please use extreme caution during this period You must unload baggage by 1 30 p m Please note that room assignments will be provided at matriculation processing in Cameron Hall Due to congestion in front of Barracks we suggest that new cadets carry their luggage to Barracks from the Parade Ground parking area if possible If you desire to move your vehicle in front of the Barracks to unload please follow these procedures 1 Exit the Parade Ground parking area at the designated spot and travel around the Parade Ground in a counter clockwise direction VMI officials will direct you where to stop your vehicle to unload 2 The area in front of Barracks is for unloading only Unload all of your cadet s baggage where directed The driver must stay with the vehicle Airport style drop

    at Cameron Hall corner of Diamond and Main Street When to change into gym uniform Cadets should change into athletic uniform after lunch They are required to be in their athletic uniform with name tag for the 2 00 p m Superintendent s Welcome in Cameron Hall Cadets should keep one set of civilian clothes appropriate for traveling with them and store items with their luggage Sequence of events on Matriculation day schedule subject to change Matriculation Cameron Hall 7 30 a m 11 30 a m Matriculation Fair Crozet Hall 8 00 a m 1 00 p m Barracks Check In Barracks until 1 30 p m Superintendent s Welcome Cameron Hall 2 00 p m March Off Cameron Hall 2 30 p m Restrooms Restroom facilities are available in Cameron Hall Lejeune Hall and Crozet Hall Where to put luggage Personal items should remain in the vehicle until the Matriculation in Cameron Hall and the Matriculation Fair processes are completed and then cadets will be allowed to check into Barracks Can parents family friends help carry luggage to room Yes family members and friends are allowed into Barracks to assist their cadet with Barracks Check in Refreshments Bottled water will be available in Cameron Hall Refreshments are also available in Crozet and the Third Barracks Food Court The Parents Council tent located on the Parade Ground will also have water available Parents Council Information regarding the Parents Council can be found at www vmi edu parentscouncil Where to eat lunch Lunch will be provided for the new cadets from 11 00 a m 1 30 p m in Crozet Hall New cadets can eat at Crozet Hall at no charge the cost for family members to each lunch is 9 00 for adults and children children 5 and under eat free payment will be accepted at the door You can also purchase tickets at the Parents Council tent in front of barracks or at the Parents Council table during the matriculation fair to cut down on your wait time in Crozet Hall The PX in Lejeune Hall is an alternative where family members can pay to eat It is important that new cadets eat during this time and to drink plenty of fluids with the meal There are a numerous restaurants available in Lexington as well It is not appropriate for new cadets to leave VMI while wearing their gym uniform Network cable other needs Information Technology will have a table to answer questions as a part of the Matriculation Fair When can rats read send email New cadets have email access once classes begin When can parents visit their rat Parents are invited to attend the New Cadet Oath Ceremony at the New Market Battlefield State Historical Park in New Market Virginia on Sunday 6 September at 11 00 a m After the new cadets return to Lexington turn in their weapons and attend an accountability formation they can depart Post with the parents guests for dinner
