  • Robison
    Upper Iowa University and taught at the University of Arizona and the University of New Mexico At the University of New Mexico Brett conducted the University Singers as a sabbatical replacement for Bradley Ellingboe and also started the University s first men s choir At the University of Arizona Brett conducted the University Singers Recital Choir and Honor Choir As a public school educator for almost ten years Brett taught in the public schools of Wisconsin Iowa Minnesota and Arizona where his ensembles consistently received superior ratings Brett has taught general music and choral music to grades K 12 While working on his doctorate at the University of Arizona he was also the assistant conductor of the internationally renowned Tucson Arizona Boys Chorus As a church musician Brett has served congregations throughout the Midwest New Mexico and Arizona Most recently Brett served as the Director of Music and Arts Ministries at Paradise Valley United Methodist Church in Paradise Valley Arizona At PVUMC he directed the Chancel Choir Paradise Singers Bells of Paradise Music Makers Adult Praise Team and coordinates and supervises all other areas of the Music and Arts Ministries Brett co founded the music nonprofit organization Scottsdale Musical Arts

    Forest City Iowa During his tenure the FCHS Bands maintained their strong tradition of excellence The FCHS Marching Band received Division I ratings during all of these years creating a school record 33 consecutive years as a Division I Superior recipient The marching band has also place first or second in parade competitions on the local state national and international levels during these years The FCHS Concert Band has also continued it s reputation of excellence receiving Division I Superior ratings 22 of the past 24 years IN addition to his work in the Forest City district Mr Rutt has served the I 35 Community school district in Central Iowa and the Central Lee Community School district in southeast Iowa Mr Rutt holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from Upper Iowa University and a Masters degree in Music Education from the University of Northern Iowa While serving as Director of Bands in the Central Lee community schools his band was chose to serve as the Official Welcoming Band for President and Mrs Jimmy Carter in a stop in Burlington Mr Rutt continues to serve as the Exhibits Chair for the Iowa Music Educators State Conference after being involved for ten years with the Iowa All State Music Festival the last six years as the Chair of the Iowa All State Band He has served on the Executive Board of the Iowa High School Music Association as a member of the District Advisory Group Mr Rutt is an active adjudicator in the areas of marching solo small ensemble and concert band and has judged festivals in Iowa Minnesota and Illinois Within this adjudication experience he has worked with student in all I H S M A classes and has maintained a high approval rating for his adjudicated work

    of Business Administration degree from Columbia Southern University with a specialization in Human Resource Management a Master of Science degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a Bachelor of Science degree from Wheaton College in Illinois She has thirty five years of experience in academic and athletic administration in higher education and has an outstanding record in publications and speaking at professional conferences Dr Ryder is currently serving as a Professor of Business and Sport Management at Waldorf College in Forest City Iowa She recently served as the Dean of Assessment and Chair of Organizational Leadership at Columbia Southern University She previously served as the Vice Provost for Mayes University She previously served as the Vice President of Academic Affairs and a Vice President for Institutional Research and Student Services at the United States Sports Academy She also held positions as the Associate Director of Athletics at West Chester University and the Director of Women s Athletics at Eastern University She has previously taught at the University of North Texas Miami University Ohio and Furman University Dr Ryder has traveled extensively in Asia and the Caribbean Dr Ryder is an international business expert Dr Cynthia E Ryder was selected by the International Best Practice Network to lead a 4 day seminar on The Business of Sport Agents at the Manpower Centre in Kingston Jamaica This seminar was held on February 11th to 14th 2010 Dr Ryder was selected as a program speaker for the 2008 International Sports Knowledge Development Conference from May 20 24 2008 on the Aletheia University Matou Campus in Tainan Taiwan The conference focused on subjects that include physical education and training water sports and leisure management sports industry management and sports information communication There were academicians and sport professionals from the United States

    of Northern Iowa Bachelor of Music minor in French Wartburg College Biography Jessica Saunders is a soprano from Des Moines Iowa Summer of 2015 Saunders appeared as Despina in the Iowa City Concert Opera s premier production of Così fan tutte and she sang the role of Fiametta in the University of Iowa s Opera Theater summer production of The Gondoliers Saunders has performed with the Druid City Opera Workshop in Tuscaloosa Alabama where she performed the partial roles of Adina L eisir d amore and Pamina Die Zauberflöte Other roles and partial roles performed include Rosalinda Die Fledermaus Soprano Soloist in Bach s Wachet Auf The Fairy Queen Iolanthe Olimpia Prima Donna Laetitia The Old Maid and the Thief 1st Lady The Magic Flute and Saunders presented her multimedia lecture recital Songs of the Kalevala in April 2015 for which she was awarded an Anna Sosenko Performance Grant Saunders is currently finishing coursework for her Doctor of Musical Arts Degree at the University of Iowa Saunders graduated with her Master of Music Degree from the University of Northern Iowa and her Bachelor of Music from Wartburg College from which she graduated magna cum laude Saunders was also a featured

  • Scarry
    years Dr Scarry worked as a substitute teacher and in retail management before deciding to pursue his doctorate in the History of U S Foreign Relations at Miami University in Oxford Ohio He became Dr Scarry in 1998 following the completion of his dissertation The Berlin Crises of 1958 and 1961 Eisenhower Kennedy and American Cold War Foreign Policy which focused on the differing approaches of the two presidents to handling comparable challenges During the academic year of 2001 2002 Dr Scarry taught on a Fulbright Grant at the University of Turku in Finland and traveled to Stockholm Talinn Riga Saint Petersburg and Berlin After returning to the States Dr Scarry accepted a position as Assistant Professor of History at Shorter College in Rome Georgia for four years At Shorter Dr Scarry was responsible for teaching most of the American History courses as well as coordinating the department s senior thesis program advising the History Club Eta Pi Sigma and directing the school s museums and archives He also initiated an annual symposium on topics of history and political science which included topics such as the Holocaust and terrorism and helped organize and lead a study abroad trip to Israel Since coming to Waldorf in 2009 as an assistant professor and chair of the History Department Dr Scarry has been active in teaching the World Civilizations sequence as well as a wide variety of upper division courses Despite his teaching and administrative loads Scarry has continued studying and expanding his understanding of history In 2011 he presented a paper at the Missouri Valley History Conference in Omaha titled On the Front Lines of the Cold War Iowans Reactions to Khrushchev s Visit in 1959 and traveled to the United States Military Academy in New York to participate in the West

    Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Minnesota His teachers on piano include Joseph Howard Richard Syracuse George Katz Theodore Lettvin and Bernhard Weiser and on harpsichord Jane Burris James Nicolson Helen Keaney and Daniel Pinkham A prolific recitalist Timothy Schmidt s concerts have taken him to three continents with extensive concerts in the United States Mexico Hong Kong China and Russia He has served as guest Artist Clinician for the North Dakota State Music Teachers Convention 2004 and the Montana State Music Teachers Association 2005 and as a collaborative musician with noted bass singer Daniel Smith 2006 and baritone singer Elias Mokole 2007 The recipients of numerous awards and honors he has performed with a number of orchestras including the Ft Dodge Symphony Orchestra the Cleveland Suburban Symphonic Winds and the St Paul Chamber Orchestra Timothy Schmidt was four times named Cultural Ambassador from the State of Iowa to China and Russia by Terry E Branstad Governor of Iowa and has served as a member and chair of the board of the Iowa Arts Council He is the recipient of the Holmen Award for Professional Excellence by Waldorf College and twice received faculty study grants by the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America Timothy Schmidt has four recordings Purely Piano and Purely Piano Advent Music of the Baroque from Spain France and Germany and the new release If I Gained the World which are regularly featured on radio broadcasts throughout the United States and abroad including Lutheran Vespers and the Protestant Hour of the Protestant Radio and Television Center His recordings have won critical acclaim including the coveted Angel Award in Christian Broadcasting He records for the DRP Sunset label of the Vantage Group a division of Christian Network International in Nashville Tennessee Timothy Schmidt is a member

    Minnesota BA University of Minnesota Duluth Biography Professor Smith s great academic passion is bringing the theology of Martin Luther to bear upon our modern life and world He firmly believes Luther s thought is extraordinarily poignant and useful for our time Connected to this passion is Professor Smith s commitment to helping students examine themselves in order to hear their many callings in life and to answer those calls well For certain official Waldorf events he serves as campus pastor Professor Smith is also the assistant men s hockey coach for the college Apart from the college Professor Smith teaches in the Lay School of Ministry for the Western Iowa Synod of the ELCA In this program he has taught an introduction to the Bible and he is currently teaching basic Lutheran theology Playing hockey and being a violinist are other things Professor Smith is known for Teaching Philosophy I believe that education should transform people Thus I structure my courses to challenge traditional ways of thinking and ask my students to think in new ways to see the world and their place in it in deeper ways To facilitate such an educational experience I believe it is vital

    member of the Utah Conservatory now joins Waldorf College as Adjunct Professor and collaborative pianist He is published by Hal Leonard Boosey Hawkes and G Schirmer including two arrangements of Aaron Copland s Appalachian Spring for violin piano and solo piano the latter of which was played at the Gina Bachauer International Piano Festival and a Hal Leonard Vocal LIbrary book of American Folksong concert arrangements 2002 In 2010 The Utah Youth Symphony commissioned and premiered his Serenade to Spring scored for four harps strings and brass at the famed Salt Lake City Mormon Tabernacle An avid coffee drinker his compositions have also been performed with the Riverton Symphony Orchestra at St Louise Community College Indiana University Southeast Simpson College University of Oklahoma and Lewis University In Park City Dr Stanley composed a choral orchestral Christmas cantata containing new holiday compositions and innovative carol arrangements He taught at Simpson College in 1996 98 2000 Dr Stanley most recently performed as concert artist in Park City Salt Lake City St Louis and Lewis University A frequent collaborative guest artist with the Park City International Chamber Music Festival Dr Stanley accompanies coaches and lectures and has played for President Bill Clinton His
