    achievement or special ability Contact us at 800 292 1903 or 641 585 8120 or finaid waldorf edu The following information is provided to acquaint you with some general financial terms and policies Types of Financial Aid Grant This is money given to the student for their educational costs that does not have to be repaid Grants are generally based on financial need Another form of grant financial aid based on the merit and accomplishments of the student are more often known as scholarships or awards Loan This is money loaned to the student that must be repaid with interest over a period of time Most loans allow a student to complete their education before beginning repayment There are some loans available to parents for their student s educational costs Self Help This is money a student can earn to use for their education costs Work study where a student obtains a job on campus and is paid an hourly wage is an example of self help financial aid Main Sources of Financial Aid Federal Federal financial aid also known as Federal Title IV aid includes Pell Grants Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants SEOG Direct Loans and Federal Work Study All of these are available at Waldorf Students must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid FAFSA to be eligible for federal aid Eligibility for federal aid programs is determined by the federal government and based on each student s FAFSA Reminder Iowa students must file their FAFSA by July 1 2014 in order to be eligible for the Iowa Tuition Grant State The State of Iowa offers a state grant which can be applied for by all residents of Iowa The grant is based on need Waldorf students who reside in Iowa may apply for this grant by returning

    Organizations Parent Information International Students Transfer Students Insurance Forms Orientation Residential Future Students Tuition Financing Applying for Financial Aid Applying for Financial Aid Applying for financial assistance does not need to be a complex process and students are welcome to consult with staff members in the Admission or Financial Aid Offices for assistance The procedure to apply for financial aid is Apply for admission Ask to be considered for financial aid by checking the appropriate blank on the Waldorf Application for Admission Preference is given to those who make early application As soon as possible after January 1 submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid FAFSA online listing Waldorf College Code 001895 This form is available at high school guidance offices and college financial aid offices A Renewal Application or a new FAFSA form must be filed each year to requalify for financial assistance Please note that this form is used to apply for the Federal Pell Grant and for Iowa residents the Iowa Tuition Grant Upon acceptance and receipt of the results of the FAFSA the College s Financial Aid Office will provide financial aid award Applicants may also be asked to submit a signed copy of both

    Perkins Loans Perkins of up to 5 500 per year are available to students who show financial need Perkins Loans are interest free while the student is attending college and for nine months thereafter Part or all of such loans may be forgiven for various kinds of teaching service in approved schools or government service Five percent interest and minimum payments of 40 per month are due starting nine months after the student leaves college Funds for this program are made available by congress and repayment of previous loans made by past students William D Ford Federal Direct Stafford Loans William D Ford Federal Direct Stafford Loans up to 3 500 for freshmen 4 500 for sophomores and 5 500 for juniors and seniors may be available through Waldorf College The federal government will pay the interest for the student while in college and six months thereafter on a need based subsidized loan The student is responsible for all interest payments on an unsubsidized loan For 2014 2015 the interest rate is a fixed rate at 4 66 on subsidized and unsubsidized loans Minimum payments of 50 per month are due starting six months after leaving college For parents the
