    YMCA Institutional Technologies Registrar s Office Business Office International Students Policies Residential Current Students Student Services Academic Achievement Center Academic Support Program Academic Support Program The Academic Support Program ASP is a valuable option for all students entering college and has proven to be beneficial for those who choose to enroll Many students earn a higher GPA in college than what was obtained in high school after fully utilizing this program At the end of the 2012 2013 academic year the cumulative GPA of ASP enrolled students was over 2 5 The Academic Support Program may be recommended to those who either did not perform to their academic potential in high school did not take a full schedule of college preparatory classes or anyone who needs to develop better college study skills In some cases the Academic Support Program may be a requirement for acceptance into the College There is a fee of 484 00 for each semester the student participates in the ASP Services provided in the Academic Support Program include the following Strategies of Success course skills are taught to increase academic preparedness for college Learning style evaluation Monitored study time Academic progress monitoring results sent to student

    Documentation of a Disability Students requesting academic accommodations will meet with the Disabilities Specialist on campus and provide documentation of their disability Setting up accommodations is a collaborative effort between the student and the Disability Specialist to best meet the academic needs of the student at Waldorf College Appropriate documentation will include a diagnosis of the disability testing results and the impact of the disability on the student in the learning environment We are required to have current documentation of the disability in order to provide accommodations Possible sources of documentation of a disability include Individualized Education Plan IEP Diagnostic Evaluation from a certified professional 504 Plan Support for Accommodation Request SAR an Iowa transition initiative SAR Form Insufficient documentation can result in a delay in accommodations or the implementation of temporary accommodations until appropriate and up to date documentation is received by our staff Students new to Waldorf College are encouraged to fill out the following form to assist in notifying our office of your need for academic accommodations and help us prepare for your arrival Accommodations Notification Form If you have any questions about accommodations or documentation requirements feel free to contact one of our disabilities staff members

    Learning Disabilities Program Learning Disabilities Program The Learning Disabilities Program LDP provides services above and beyond that of just ensuring appropriate accommodations for students with a disability Students participating in the LD Program who apply the academic strategies techniques and provided resources have been exceptionally successful academically At the end of the 2012 2013 academic year the cumulative GPA of all LDP enrolled students was 2 56 Students who wish to participate in the LDP will be asked to provide appropriate documentation of their disability and a motivation to use skills techniques learned in the program to excel Please note that there is an additional fee of 484 00 for participation in the services provided through this program Services in the Learning Disabilities Program include the following Specialized academic advising with the Disabilities Specialist Professor notification of accommodations required by the student One on one tutoring services from former professors teachers Learning style assessment Individualized instructional strategies from the Disabilities Specialist Orientation meeting with the Disabilities Specialist at the beginning of the academic year Monitored study time Limited course load in the first semester to promote success Academic counseling services available upon referral or request Academic progress monitoring which will

    borrow materials through ILL but priority is given to Waldorf students faculty and staff Community members are limited to 3 interlibrary loan items checked out at one time and a total of 25 interlibrary loan items in one calendar year What types of materials are available through Interlibrary Loan Books photocopies of articles musical scores government documents and most ERIC documents are generally available Dissertations materials reproduced in microform and A V e g DVDs VHS CDs are less readily available but may be obtained in some cases Interlibrary loan requests for textbooks are not accepted Online students are eligible to request articles or a specific book chapter through interlibrary loan Entire books and other materials cannot be shipped to the student and will need to be requested through the student s local library The following types of materials are generally not available through interlibrary loan Bound periodical volumes Reference materials Recently published or high demand items Materials that are considered rare fragile or too valuable to lend Print materials available only from foreign libraries What does it cost Generally there is no cost to the requester for ILL services If the cost to obtain the item exceeds the amount we are able to absorb you may be asked to cover part of the cost How long does it take before requested items arrive Items usually arrive in 5 7 days Notification will be sent once the item is available How long can I keep the material Loan periods are set by the lending library Generally books are given a one month loan period You may be able to renew items however renewals are dependent on the lending library s policy Email ill waldorf edu to make a renewal request before the original due date Photocopies of articles or book
