  • Sun Safety Time! | The Warrior

  • Timing Can Change a Life | The Warrior
    the knowledge to present myself well in the interview Soon after Irr was chosen as the fire chief for the City of Yuma Fire Department He now manages a staff of one assistant and five battalion chiefs that lead 125 employees All serve a community of 93 000 residents and with six fire stations that run 13 000 calls annually Irr said he owes much of his success to his Waldorf which he was attracted to because they had the program I was looking for but what sold me was the customer service I received I had some bad experiences with other colleges not responding to my questions The staff at Waldorf was very responsive to my questions and helped me every step of the way His attraction to the field of fire service began at an early age I have always been drawn to public service and especially public safety When I became old enough to work I began to work as a lifeguard he said A life changing moment soon arrived when I did CPR on a 3 year old when I was 16 That kid lived and I ended up being his Little League coach when he was 9 years old After that Irr was hooked and became an EMT and started learning about becoming a firefighter He took test to become a Yuma firefighter in 1986 He was hired and soon after he graduated in the first paramedic class held in Yuma Throughout his education with Waldorf Irr said he learned a great deal and that knowledge contributes to his success today The courses I took through Waldorf College has allowed me to have a foundation to build on and has allowed me to speak to other professionals in a competent knowledgeable and professional manner he

  • Slow Down for Stress Awareness Month | The Warrior
    no one enjoys It is caused by different reasons According to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America stress affects 80 percent of college students on a daily basis Attending college can be an additional challenge but don t let it stress you out The pressure for good grades and reoccurring course work could cause stress or it could be from the pressure you put on yourself for perfection There are ways to manage the extra stress and become aware of what is causing it As the typical term semester is wrapping up we have a few tips to get you through the semester to manage your stress level Stay positive It sounds simple but it is easy to fall into a negative slump Sometimes negativity is all around you at work social networks and even in your peer groups Work on staying positive Find your relaxing time Try yoga running meditation reading or doing something that relaxes you Find that something that helps you to relax and relieve stress Listen to music Music can help you relax Even try a different type of music like classical with studying Sleep A full night of rest can help you tackle the next day properly and not have sleep deprivation Eat Healthy A healthy meal will provide you energy and brainpower without it you will feel sluggish and low on energy Do something fun Find something you enjoy and go do it It will ease the stress when participating in an activity that makes you happy Laugh Laughing reduces stress hormones Keep good company and continue to laugh in life Being able to manage your stress effectively is a skill How do you de stress Share with us in the comments below your stress reducing techniques Author Claire Stewart Share This Post
