regional accreditation were key in his decision to attend The online classes were a huge attraction too Waldorf staff was very helpful and friendly which made choosing them very easy he added I began a public safety administration degree at another college I brought credits from that college along with my work life experience to Waldorf They were able to use that towards my degree evaluation and tell me exactly the classes I needed to graduate said Kemp who enrolled in January 2013 While attending Waldorf Kemp was very pleased with the staff and faculty support The professors had the classes planned in a consistent professional manner They followed the syllabus perfectly so there was never any confusion on when assignments were due he said They also quickly answered questions and were available to the students if needed All the professors were professional and made learning fun Within months after graduating with a bachelor s in criminal justice administration in April of this year Kemp was able to return to his beloved profession with more enjoyable hours I have had my share of odd hours and shift work so I was ready for more stable hours My current job allows me to work day shift with weekends off said Kemp of his Alabama job I am also very good at putting cases together and dealing with administrative work Combined with my past law enforcement this career very closely matches my exact skill set which has led to high job satisfaction Kemp added he is very satisfied with what Waldorf s education has done for his career and life So much so that he is thinking about seeking the new master s degree in organizational leadership My level of self satisfaction and pride is off the chart In retrospect attending Waldorf

  • The Future of Online Learning | The Warrior
more people are finding that an online degree is the right course of action to achieve their academic goals During the recession the increase in online learning skyrocketed because so many individuals saw the feasibility of pursuing a degree online Since then numbers have only been increasing with around 21 million students enrolled in online classes in 2011 And online learning seems to be stretching out past adult learners as well according to the National Center for Education Statistics the number of K 12 public school students who enroll in distance learning education courses has grown by more than 65 since 2002 But like any large shift in cultural norms not everyone is approving of online learning Some say that traditional face to face classes involving student discourse and the physical presence of a professor is the only way students can properly learn Unfortunately the statistics don t support the naysayers According to a report from the Department of Education in 2010 students in online courses performed better on average than those who learned the same material through traditional in person courses Another study done last year surveyed 1 500 online graduates and reported that most students found their online education to be a good investment of time and money and many participants had secured new jobs full time jobs raises and promotions soon after their graduation date And for those who say connections with other students aren t made through online learning we at Waldorf have to disagree As a college serving an online student populous we have seen the growth of student social media groups online chat study sessions as well as many personal connections made through online classes that have lasted far past the student s last semester In a world where more people are meeting through
