    the description 1st sentence should be a bare bones summary of your project this is what people will see on the main page C Create a unique identifier for your project This is unchangeable and will end up in the URL for all things related to your project D Provide a link to your project s homepage E Choose a category for your project from the drop down list F Add keywords to aid people in finding your project Where appropriate please include any input or output formats ex SAC miniseed ASCII Description Category Language Keywords are all searchable parameters G Select the modules of interest Since this particular project only provides both a way for people to discover your project and a way to inspect your source code the only option we ll turn on is Repository Everything else should be cleared but can be turned on at a later time from the Settings tab H Click This will save this project and go to it s settings screen You should see the message If instead you click your project is still saved but you are returned to a new blank project page Done This is what your new project should look like from the overview page You can now make any changes you desire by clicking on the Settings tab Repository To set up a repository go to Settings and then choose the Repository tab If there is no Repository tab then go to the Modules tab and make sure that Repository is checked If you intend to host your repository here at SeisCode choose SeisCode Upon selecting SeisCode you get the following message This will create a Subversion repository managed by SeisCode Anyone can read from the repository but only project members can write to it URL

    files to your SeisCode repository using svn add directories are recursively added svn add list of files and directories At this point these files have been marked for addition but haven t actually been uploaded to SeisCode yet Commit files make sure to include your SeisCode username and password svn commit m comments for this commit username mySeisCodeUsername password mySeisCodePassword files and directories to commit or svn commit F fileContainingCommitComments username mySeisCodeUsername password mySeisCodePassword files and directories to commit Day to day work in your local project directory Only make changes to this directory using subversion commands Otherwise local and SeisCode versions may become out of sync e g svn mkdir instead of mkdir svn rm instead of rm svn mv instead of mv use svn add to add additional files to your project Otherwise they may exist in the directory but will not exist in the repository use svn update to replace outdated local files with any newer versions that may exist in the repository use svn status to compare the local project to the SeisCode Project Check svn help status for a complete list of codes Some common codes include A Added C Conflicted D Deleted I ignored M modified R Replaced item is not under version control use svn commit to send any changes to SeisCode s repository For help svn help provides a list of commands svn whichcommand provides command specific help EXAMPLE example for project named the simplest project which was set up using SeisCode for source code management repository url http seiscode iris washington edu svn the simplest project This project consists of 3 files located at HOME simplest files are named prepare py calculate py and display py for safety sake our local repository will live in a new directory HOME simpleproject and
