    Planet Ant Theatre presents the musical satire comedy Cancer The Musical weekends from November 9 through December 15 2012 at the Marlene Boll Theatre in the Downtown Y at 1401 Broadway Street in Detroit 1 block south of Grand Circus Park Cancer The Musical tells the stories of a researcher who believes he has the cure for cancer a rival pharmaceutical executive who wants to steal the cure and a surgeon who needs it to save the woman he loves It is the work of a current WSU graduate student WSU undergrad class of 2005 and two Wayne State University alumni John Edwartowski Musical Director Score Lyrics WSU College of Fine and Performing Arts BA in Music 2005 WSU College of Fine and Performing Arts MA in Music Theory expected May 2013 Shawn Handlon Director Book Lyrics WSU School of Business Administration BA in Management Information Systems 1992 Thomas Donnellon Book Lyrics WSU College of Liberal Arts BA in Chemistry Biology 1984 WSU School of Medicine MD 1988 Tom Donnellon MD is a cancer survivor and surgeon with HOPE Surgical based in Port Huron He co wrote the script with his brother and Second City Detroit alum Shawn Handlon of Harper Woods Local musician John Edwartowski of Harper Woods wrote the score Edwartowski and Handlon worked together at The Second City Detroit Cancer features 15 original songs with music by Edwartowski and lyrics by Handlon Donnellon and Edwartowski The show is directed by Shawn Handlon The musical director is John Edwartowski The play was originally staged at the Abreact Theater in Detroit in fall of 2005 Locally it also ran at the Planet Ant Theatre in Hamtramck in May 2006 and the pre Elizabeth Theatre in May 2011 In 2007 it was featured off Broadway in the New York City

    part time faculty applications July 1 2014 Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre and Dance Part Time Faculty Posting 2014 The Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre and Dance of Wayne State University is accepting applications for inclusion in Part Time Faculty hiring pools in the following areas Acting Design Technology Introduction to Theatre Movement Voice Modern African Ballet Jazz Ballroom Hip Hop and Dance in General Education Theatre Part time faculties generally teach one course and occasionally two courses per semester In the areas of survey courses a three credit course can involve 3 contact hours per week In the areas of performance and design a two credit course can involve 3 contact hours per week and a three credit course can involve 4 contact hours Part time faculty members are responsible for instructing students during the course hours evaluating student work completed in the course and holding office hours on a regular basis Dance Part time faculties generally teach one course and occasionally two courses per semester In the technique areas a two credit course can involve six contact hours per week In the area of Dance in General Education a four credit course can involve five contact hours per week In other areas of dance a one credit course can involve three contact hours per week Part time faculty are responsible for instructing students during the course hours evaluating student work completed in the course and holding office hours on a regular basis To be eligible for consideration a candidate should possess a Master s Degree in a field of specialization appropriate to the area of the assignment Candidates should submit a portfolio including the following a letter of application curriculum vitae a short statement of teaching philosophy of not more than one page in length and the names
