    to study in the field Learn More Home Academics Departments and Programs Biology Biology In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth Genesis 1 1 He is before all things and in him all things hold together Colossians 1 17 Menu Major Courses Faculty Guest Instructors Biology Staff Biology News Emeriti Faculty Opportunities and Activities Careers in Biology Summer Internships Biology Science Building 2nd Floor 501 College Avenue Wheaton IL 60187 Phone 630 752 5008 Fax 630 752 7278 biology wheaton edu The Department of Biology bases its approach to biology on the Biblical view of God as creator and sustainer of the universe introducing biology majors and other students to the concepts of biology and helping them to discover and interpret the characteristics of nature as part of God s creation Courses collaborative research experiences with faculty and internship opportunities are designed to introduce students to biological principles at the molecular cellular organismal population and ecosystem levels and to allow students to experience and understand the processes applications and limitations of biology as a scientific endeavor Emphasis is placed on integrating biology with a Biblical worldview in a way that encourages service to Christ and His Kingdom Meyer Science Center The Department of Biology is located in the Meyer Science Building on the second floor Our facilities include a greenhouse eight large instructional laboratories a DNA sequencer and a well equipped ecology lab all used by students and faculty for collaborative research projects In addition to the usual undergraduate instructional laboratory equipment several PCR cyclers and a fluorescent microscope are available for classes and research The Wheaton College Science Station in South Dakota provides an excellent Science Station setting for summer instruction A marine biology class includes a field trip to a field station in Belize Plant

    Wheaton Campus Map and Information Campus Buildings Blanchard Hall Blanchard Hall At the center of campus north of the Billy Graham Center is historic Blanchard Hall Wheaton s Old Main Menu Adams Hall Buswell Memorial Library Todd M Beamer Student Center Billy Graham Center Blanchard Hall Edman Chapel McAlister Hall Memorial Student Center Meyer Science Center Pierce Chapel Sports and Recreation Complex Marion E Wade Center Westgate Blanchard was built in four sections beginning in 1853 and completed in 1927 It is named for Jonathan Blanchard the College s founder and first president 1860 1882 and his son Charles Blanchard the second president 1882 1925 Blanchard Hall is constructed of native Illinois limestone quarried in Batavia Illinois Its castle like architecture is patterned after buildings at Oxford University which Dr Jonathan Blanchard admired on a trip to England in 1843 The building is listed in the National Register of Historic Places During a major renovation in 1989 90 care was taken to preserve the character and integrity of many elements in the original design The last stone of the octagonal tower was set on October 5 1872 The old bell that rang that day was replaced a few months later by a 1 000 pound copper and tin bell cast in Troy New York The school motto Christo Et Regno Ejus For Christ and His Kingdom is engraved on the bell Offices for departments in the Humanities Social Sciences currently occupy the building as well as the offices of the President the Provost Vice Presidents and Academic Affairs The Human Resources and Purchasing departments can also be found at Blanchard Video Tour of Blanchard Hall Share This Page Feedback Media Center Giving to Wheaton Back to Top About Wheaton Value of a Wheaton Education Wheaton People Mission Statement of Faith

    a community of Christians to affirm our faith to be encouraged in the Christian life to focus our attention on God s agenda to pray for ourselves and the world and to give praise and thanksgiving to our triune God Since it is the only time that the entire student body gathers in one place chapel becomes an opportunity to build community Menu Chapel Chapel Schedule Opportunities for Involvement Chaplain Discipleship Small Groups Office of the Chaplain Wheaton College Todd M Beamer Center 501 College Ave Wheaton IL 60187 Phone 630 752 5087 chaplains office wheaton edu Chapel Program The Chapel program seeks to nurture the spiritual life of students in the context of an academic environment Three times a week at 10 35 AM Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays the entire undergraduate student body gathers in community in Edman Chapel for the purpose of worship Chapel programs reflect the interdenominational nature of the College and include guests known for their Christian leadership and message to the church and culture Variety in worship forms traditions and music enriches the educational and experiential dimension of the chapel program Student and faculty participation encourages the development of Christian faith through peer and mentor relationships An educational component of chapel includes the consideration of theological social ethical psychological and political issues from a distinctively Christian and biblical perspective Chapel Broadcasts 10 35 AM Monday Wednesday Friday Live Video Online Campus Cable Channel 4 1 Undergraduate Chapel YouTube Channel Grad School Chapel The Wheaton College Graduate School meets for chapel as well on a weekly basis providing a time for graduate students to gather Learn more about Graduate Chapel Chapel Attendance Chapel attendance is required for all 2 400 undergraduate students Some members of the faculty and staff regularly attend chapel and there may be off campus guests in attendance although the number of visitors is usually small because of seating limitations Eleven chapel absences are permitted each semester These eleven absences may be used to sleep study recover from illness for doctor s appointments non school related trips irregular work schedules interviews car trouble and trips to the airport etc Students are expected to manage their chapel attendance wisely over the course of each semester Chapel attendance is overseen by the Chaplain s Office All School Communion The Wheaton community gathers for All School Communion for a time of worship and communion at 8 00 PM in Edman Chapel several times throughout the semester Sunday January 10 2016 Wednesday February 17 2016 Tuesday March 29 2016 Monday May 2 2016 Spiritual Life Watch Chapel Live Watch Chapel services live every Monday Wednesday and Friday at 10 35 a m More Spiritual Life Chapel Schedule Chapel programs reflect the interdenominational nature of the College through its variety in speakers worship forms traditions and music More mywheaton Chapel Band Chapel band co leader Andrew Sedlacek 15 describes the way leading worship at Wheaton has shaped his understanding of himself and his community More Share This Page
