    s Chorale Director of Performance Studies On Faculty since 1979 Office McAlister Hall 102 Phone 630 752 5828 Email Mary Hopper wheaton edu Education D M A choral conducting University of Iowa 1985 M A choral conducting University of Iowa 1977 B M E music education Wheaton College 1973 About Mary Hopper Mary Hopper Professor of Choral Music and Director of Performance Studies at the Wheaton College Conservatory of Music conducts the Wheaton College Men s Glee Club and the Women s Chorale and is a frequent conductor for the Wheaton Opera production Both of her choirs have appeared on ACDA conferences The Women s Chorale has been invited to sing at two National Conferences Salt Lake City and New York City and four Central Division Conferences The Men s Glee Club appeared on an Illinois ACDA State Fall Conference and Illinois Music Educator s Conference under Dr Hopper s leadership Dr Hopper is currently the National President elect for ACDA and was conference chair for the ACDA 2015 National Conference in Salt Lake City She has served ACDA on the state and division levels as Central Division Women s Choir R S Chair Illinois State Treasurer Illinois State President and Central Division President Dr Hopper holds degrees from Wheaton College and the University of Iowa where she studied with Don V Moses Before coming to Wheaton Dr Hopper taught both junior high and high school choral music in the Chicago area and choral conducting and voice at the University of Minnesota Morris Also an active church musician she presently serves as Minister of Music at Immanuel Presbyterian Church Warrenville IL Dr Hopper is a frequent guest conductor clinician and judge She has conducted All State Choirs in Indiana Illinois Delaware Georgia New York Idaho Wisconsin and Louisiana and several Women s Choir festivals including both Southern and Western ACDA Division Women s Honors Choirs In 2007 and 2011 Dr Hopper was a guest conductor mentor and plenary speaker at the International Summer School in Choral Conducting sponsored by the New Zealand Choral Federation Most of Dr Hopper s research and publications have dealt with repertoire and women s choirs She co authored the article Teaching with Standards Repertoire in the Age of Glee published in the Choral Journal February 2011 She presented an interest session at the National ACDA Conference in 2011 titled Expanding the Repertoire Uncovering a Neglected American Music Genre Black Composers Writing for Women s Voices As a result of this research the Wheaton College Women s Chorale produced a recording of music for women s voices by Black composers titled Lead Gently Lord Dr Hopper has contributed a chapter on Community in Women s Choirs to Conducting Women s Choirs Strategies for Success published by GIA She has been honored by Wheaton College with a Senior Teaching Achievement Award and the Distinguished Service of Alma Mater Award In 2014 Illinois ACDA awarded Dr Hopper the Harold A Decker Award in recognition and appreciation of the

    Brian Hunt Bruce Howard Carolyn Hart Daniel Horn CV Concert Schedule Reviews Repertoire Documents Photo Album Audio Video About students Student audio Darlene Hannah David Hooker Enoch Hill Grant Henley James G Huff Jr LTC James Hoyman John Hayward Jr Mary Hopper Sarah Hall Sarah Holman Terry Huttenlock Theon Hill Professor of Music Piano Chair of Keyboard Area On Faculty since 1984 Office McAlister 216 Phone 630 752 5826 Email Daniel Horn wheaton edu Education B M M M D M A Juilliard About Daniel Paul Horn An active and versatile pianist Daniel Paul Horn is Professor of Piano and Chair of Keyboard Studies at the Wheaton College Conservatory of Music where he was honored with a 2009 Senior Academic Achievement Award for sustained excellence in scholarship As a solo recitalist he has appeared at colleges and universities throughout North America at the American Liszt Society Festival and in live broadcasts over WFMT FM on its Pianoforte Foundation Fazioli Salon Series and 2010 Beethoven Piano Sonata series As a concerto soloist he has performed with various Midwestern orchestras including the Detroit Symphony Orchestra in 2015 he made his European orchestral debut with the Sarajevo Philharmonic performing Lumen by Wheaton alumnus Jacob Bancks An avid chamber musician he regularly collaborates with members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra With the MasterWorks Ensemble he has played in Bermuda and at the 2010 Beijing Modern Music Festival in addition he has performed with the Ying String Quartet the Rembrandt Chamber Players cellist Stephen Balderston pianist Alexander Djordjevic and Guarneri Quartet violinist John Dalley He also works with noted singers including sopranos Michelle Areyzaga and Sylvia McNair baritone Gerard Sundberg and basses Stephen Morscheck and Kenneth Cox with soprano Carolyn Hart and mezzo soprano Denise Gamez he has performed recitals in Chicago New York and Paris Working with living composers he has premiered music by George Arasimowicz Jacob Bancks Delvyn Case David M Gordon Neal Harnly Patrick Kavanaugh Daniel Kellogg and Max Raimi As an early keyboardist he was harpsichordist in performances of Handel s Messiah under the baton of John Nelson and has twice performed on the Historical Piano Concert series at the Frederick Collection in Ashburnham Massachusetts In 1997 he recorded the critically praised disc Wanderings for Titanic Records on an 1829 Graf fortepiano and in 2010 released Sehnsucht Music of Robert Schumann he also recorded for the Centaur label with CSO cellist Donald Moline and for the Canadian Music Centre with soprano Carolyn Hart A Detroit native Horn studied at Peabody with Walter Hautzig and at Juilliard where he studied with Martin Canin and Felix Galimir and earned his doctorate He has also coached with Jerome Lowenthal Ann Schein Joseph Bloch Roy Howat and Menahem Pressler for whom he twice served as a guest assistant at Indiana University In addition to his duties at Wheaton he has been a faculty artist at the Sewanee Adamant Blue Mountain and MasterWorks summer festivals Share This Page Feedback Media Center Giving to Wheaton Back to

    of Northern Colorado After several years of teaching high school science I returned to school and earned my M S and Ph D in Kinesiology from the University of Colorado Boulder I was then awarded a postdoctoral fellowship through the Division on Ageing at Harvard Medical School So we gave up summers in the Rocky Mountains for summers on Cape Cod I then spent 3 years as an Instructor in Medicine at HMS running tutorials on cardiovascular and pulmonary medicine During this time we adopted our oldest son Tyrone I was then appointed an Assistant Professor in Kinesiology at the University of Massachusetts Amherst We then adopted our second son Moses In 2008 I was appointed an Associate Professor in Applied Health Science at Wheaton College So we gave up the Atlantic ocean for the corn fields of the Midwest When I m not teaching about human physiology and how exercise can be used as medicine or performing research on cardiovascular function I enjoy playing my guitars and worshiping with my family And if the need arises and time permits I also enjoy some woodworking Courses Taught AHS 361 Integrative Human Physiology AHS 369 Cardiovascular Evaluation Prescription AHS 452 Applied Physiology AHS 101 Wellness Membership in Professional Societies American College of Sports Medicine American Physiological Society Christian Society of Kinesiology and Leisure Studies Research The Cardiovascular Research Program examines the divine design of the human cardiovascular system At this time our research is focused on the effects of nutrition and exercise on vascular function Recent Publications Salacinski AJ Alford M Drevets K Hart S Hunt BE Validity and reliability of a glucometer against industry reference standards J Diabetes Sci Technol 1 1 95 99 2014 Hart S Drevets K Alford M Salacinski A and Hunt BE A method comparison study
