    Tour Get Involved Donate Materials Volunteer Wade Center Collections Services Reading Room Guidelines Guidelines for the Kilby Reading Room Menu Appraisals Collection Listings Duplication Services Kilby Research Grant Other Local Facilities Reading Room Applications Reading Room Guidelines Reference Questions Research Visits 1 Upon arrival please sign in at the Reading Room desk 2 The Reading Room is designated for study or reading relating to the Wade Center authors only 3 Please use our copies of books and materials personal or library books should be left outside of the Reading Room 4 Laptops iPads tablets etc are welcome but storage cases must be left outside the Reading Room at a coatrack or in a locker Wheaton College staff faculty and students are provided with cable and wireless internet connectivity via their registered personal devices For off campus visitors who would like internet connectivity see our Research Visits page item 4 5 No food drink or gum in the Reading Room 6 Please use care in handling all material Use pencil only when taking notes 7 Cameras and other devices may not be used to take photographs of materials without permission from Wade Center archival staff See our Duplication Services page for more details 8 All materials are non circulating and must remain in the Wade Center Reading Room 9 We ask that you hang your coat on the coat rack in the entryway of the Wade Center or on the hooks in the hallway outside the Reading Room 10 All backpacks briefcases purses or other bags must be stored at a coat rack or in a locker You may see the attendant for a locker key at no charge 11 Cell phone ringers must be turned off Calls made or received should take place outside the Reading Room 12 Please allow

    Reference Questions Reference Questions Menu Appraisals Collection Listings Duplication Services Kilby Research Grant Other Local Facilities Reading Room Applications Reading Room Guidelines Reference Questions Research Visits The Wade Center accepts short reference questions relating to our collections services publications the works and lives of the seven Wade authors and other related topics Due to limited staff resources we are unable to assist with questions requiring extensive research We encourage individuals to visit the Wade Center and conduct in depth research in person Please include any specifics which will aid us in answering your question such as your contact information how the information provided by Wade staff will be used sources you have already consulted and specific terms dates etc relating to your topic If you question relates to accessing specific materials in the Wade Center s collections please state how you found the materials and any information which will help the archival staff retrieve these items such as collection or book titles call numbers and material format letter manuscript etc Reference questions are answered in the order they are received Responses to questions are generally sent within a few days from the time they are received depending on staff availability

    Kilby Research Grant Other Local Facilities Reading Room Applications Reading Room Guidelines Reference Questions Research Visits We encourage you to review the information on hours and closings In order to facilitate your research we offer the following suggestions for planning your visit Inform the Wade Center in advance of the dates you intend to use the Reading Room We will confirm that the timing does not conflict with other events either at the Wade or the Wheaton College campus which may interfere with your research We encourage you to provide the archival staff with specifics about the topics or materials you wish to investigate for your research Whenever possible we will have materials ready for use when you arrive Information on directions and parking accommodations and meals is available on the Visitor Information page to help plan your visit Laptops iPads tablets etc are welcome in the Reading Room The research tables are outfitted with power outlets and Wheaton College staff and students are provided with cable and wireless internet access Off Campus visitors using the Reading Room have the following options for internet connectivity Use the campus WC Guest network to register your device when you arrive at the Wade Center IT support is available for troubleshooting if necessary For brief internet browsing and library catalog access the Wade Center has a public access terminal in the Reading Room Buswell Library the main Wheaton College campus library may also be used for visitor web access Plan to bring pencils and a photo ID with you and be sure to read the Reading Room Guidelines before you come If you wish to fill out a Reading Room Application before you come feel free to print off a copy and have it ready when you arrive Application forms are also available
