    Read more Meet the Class of 2015 Rebecca Robinson When I graduate and leave Whittier the things I will miss most are the companionship of my friends and the mentorship and support of my professors Read more Meet the Class of 2015 Greg Carlson Greg Carlson s advice to future Poets Take advantage of all opportunities that are presented Read more Prev Next In This Section Comme Mobile Pre Commencement Events Graduates Families Reception Student Information Cap Gown Graduation Announcements Photography Senior Class Gift Ceremony Information Schedule Distribution of Diplomas Families Guests Severe Weather Plan Parking Accommodations Commencement Traditions You are here Home Commencement Ceremony Information Schedule Ceremony Information Schedule On 9 May 2013 By admin 0 Comments Graduates please read the following information thoroughly To participate in the commencement ceremony and receive a diploma your tuition bill must be paid in full by April 8 2016 Graduates assemble on the Memorial Baseball Field at 8 00 a m in caps and gowns The tassels on the mortar board should be on the right side DRESS CODE Graduates are required to arrive dressed in their cap and gown and any additional pre approved academic regalia honors cords society cords Graduates who do not arrive in cap and gown will not be permitted to participate in the ceremony Extra caps and gowns will not be available Bachelor of Arts candidates the tassels on the mortar board of your cap should be on the RIGHT side of your head For Master of Arts candidates the tassels should be on the LEFT side of your head 8 00 a m Graduates must check in with staff at Memorial Field baseball field Upon checking in you will be given a card with your name and placement number Placement numbers will be painted on the field Placement numbers are assigned alphabetically and cannot be changed 8 20 a m Graduates are required to assemble on their placement number 8 30 a m Attendance will be taken in preparation for procession to Newman Field It is extremely important that you do not leave from your placement number once attendance has been taken This is the order that names will be called in for the presentation of diplomas Graduates who arrive late are not present during attendance or who have left from their placement number will risk being excluded from the ceremony and will not receive their diploma on stage 8 45 a m Procession to Newman Field Procession will be led by Faculty Marshals It is very important that you pay attention to their direction Once arriving on Newman Field be sure that you have a seat and that no seats are left empty 9 00 a m Commencement Ceremony begins Graduates will remain standing for Invocation Men will remove their caps for Invocation and Benediction Following the welcome from the President and the Board of Trustees and Alumni speakers and the conferral of honorary degrees the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty
