    a strong biomedical science background from which one can prepare for admission to schools of medicine pharmacy and other health professions programs For 2005 14 alumni 24 19 8 have earned or are pursuing MD or DO degree 27 22 3 have earned or are pursuing Doctor of Pharmacy PharmD degrees and 12 9 9 have earned or are pursuing degrees in other allied health professions including physician s assistant medicine 3 optometry 3 veterinary medicine 2 dentistry 1 nursing 1 physical therapy 1 and public health 1 Together this accounts for 63 of the past 121 graduates 52 1 The degree also affords a strong research foundation for graduate work in biomedical science fields Among 2005 14 alumni 26 21 5 have pursued further training at the graduate school level generally in PhD programs Pharmaceutical Sciences 8 pharmacology 8 and toxicology 3 have been the most common graduate disciplines of recent alumni these totals include a student enrolled in prestigious medical scientist MD PhD programs Other graduate disciplines of PharmTox alumni include biomedical sciences cellular molecular biology chemistry medicinal chemistry molecular pharmacology neuroscience and physiology Several of these alumni are presently in postdoctoral research positions at various universities and research institutes nationwide currently 2005 14 PharmTox alumni who have earned PhDs are postdoc ing at institutions including Rockefeller University University of California Berkeley University of Minnesota Twin Cities and Wake Forest University Further two alumni of the past decade 1 7 have earned J D degrees in preparation for careers in law Students completing the program are well qualified to pursue entry level scientific employment in industry e g biomedical biotechnology consumer products contract research organizations or pharmaceutical As of June 2014 entities employing 2005 14 PharmTox alumni representing students who began employment immediately after graduation as well as those who pursued advanced degrees include 3M Abbott Northwestern Hospital Accuray Incorporated AmeriCorps Benghou Consulting Cardno ChemRisk Chicago Public Schools optometrist Children s Hospital Wauwatosa WI Covance Laboratories CVS Pharmacy Environmental Profiles Inc Epic Corporation Fabutech Hydrite Chemical Company Illinois National Guard Knobbe Martens Olson Bear Noble Hound Animal Hospital Pharmaceutical Product Development PPD Promega Corporation Population Council Robins Kaplan Miller Ciresi LLP Regenerative Medical Solutions S C Johnson Son SNBL USA University of Michigan 2 pharmacy resident and veterinary research animal care resident University of Wisconsin Madison Department of Biochemistry University of Wisconsin Hospital Clinics 2 University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health Walgreens 2 pharmacists Women s International Pharmacy pharmacist Young Innovations Nonprofit research laboratories in academia are often another employment option for B S graduates Such employers of 2005 14 alumni include the Baylor College of Medicine Johns Hopkins University Loyola University Medical Center Chicago and the University of Wisconsin Madison Medical School PharmTox Alumni Of the program s 303 overall graduates 49 16 2 have achieved the degree of M D or D O and 14 others are currently enrolled in such programs those 63 equate to 20 8 of all PharmTox alumni Medical
