    Dialogue with a Distance Education Master DTL Team 2015 04 15T14 47 24 00 00 Dialogue with a Distance Education Master Wednesday August 12 3 00 pm In this up close and personal spotlight session you ll engage with one of the pioneers and icons in the field of distance education Drawing from his more than 30 years experience in distance education research practice and international leadership Michael will provide insight and practical wisdom for approaching the tsunami of technology options for teaching and learning at a distance Whether you re an education leader or a practitioner Michael will apply his own transactional distance model to help us better understand the educational opportunities afforded by our new learning environments Michael G Moore Distinguished Professor of Education Pennsylvania State University Michael G Moore is known for his scholarly leadership in the field of distance education in which he has achieved a number of firsts While teaching the first course in this subject at University of Wisconsin in the mid 70s he contributed to founding the Annual Conference on Distance Teaching Learning Before joining Penn State in 1986 he worked for nine years at the British Open University and before that for seven years in East Africa He founded the first American distance education journal The American Journal of Distance Education and continues as its editor has served on the editorial boards of all the main distance education journals published many articles books and monographs and is Series Editor of the Stylus Online Learning and Distance Education series He has advocated for distance education through speeches and presentations in over 30 countries In 2003 Moore was inducted into the United States Distance Learning Association Hall of Fame and in 2013 into the American Adult Education Hall of Fame Moore maintains a special
