    Independent Learning Youth Options participants can Save the time hassle and costs of traveling to campus Study and test where and when it s convenient for them Use the UW Transfer Information System to see how credits transfer throughout the UW System Another Youth Options advantage Cost If a school board determines that a UW Independent Learning course qualifies for high school credit and isn t comparable to a course currently offered within the school district the school district will pay for the course not the student In addition if approved by the school board a student may be able to earn both high school and college credit for their coursework UW Independent Learning offers nearly 100 online and print based courses for undergraduate credit in subject areas including English and Humanities Ethnic Studies Foreign Language Math and Science Social Science Talk to your school counselor if you are interested in the Youth Options program To participate students must apply well in advance of each semester by October 1 for spring semester and March 1 for fall More information on Youth Options including brochures and the necessary forms can be found on the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction website You
