    housing assignments are made based on the date of housing prepayment fee 6 Am I guaranteed an assignment to the building I select on my housing application Unfortunately no All housing assignments are based on availability seniority and the date of housing prepayment fee We encourage students to request what they would like on their housing application but acknowledge that their request is just that a request 7 How are roommates assigned In order to be placed with a specific roommate both roommates must request each other If you do not have a specific roommate in mind the Housing Office will use the information you listed on the Housing Application to place you with a compatible person 8 What if I don t like my roommate You can discuss this with your Resident Assistant or Resident Director at any point If you ve made a genuine attempt to work together with no success you can begin our room change process We will make room changes one day each trimester 9 Can I have a private room Private rooms are only granted when space allows When available they are assigned on a seniority basis 10 Do you have family housing Yes we have housing for married students without children but we do not have housing for students with children 11 How many halls do you have on campus We have 7 residence halls Please visit the Residence Halls link on the Residence Life web page for specific information about each building 12 Are any of the residence halls co ed No all of the residence halls are single gender 13 When will I receive my room assignment Assignment letters are mailed each year after July 15th You should receive your letter by late summer Your letter will include contact information for your roommate and specific information about how to check in to your room Life in a Residence Hall 14 Is furniture provided in each room Yes we provide two extra long twin beds two dressers and two desks in each room Please don t bring your own furniture as space is limited 15 Am I issued a key to my room door Each resident is issued a key for his her assigned room Key replacement is 50 In Byrd and Braswell halls a hard key for the closet and a plastic card key are issued to each resident Each key carries a 50 replacement fee 16 Do I have to lock my room door Please lock your door when you are not in your room We ask that you keep your key in your possession at all times This includes going downstairs to the lobby or laundry room William Carey University is not responsible for lost or stolen items 17 Am I allowed to hang posters in my room Yes but we do not allow sticky squares nails screws or other items that might damage the wall We encourage all students to use painter s tape which will support lighter
