    Work of William Carey D D Sarah Gillespie Collection Clarence Dickinson Special Collection Lucile Parker Gallery Chain Garden About Carey History of William Carey University Accreditation Mission Vision Theme Verse Speakers Bureau News Events Tuition Aid Giving To Carey Ways to Give Single and Recurring Gifts Planned Giving In Kind Gifts Scholarships Matching Gifts Memorial Gifts Annual Fund Current Priority Projects Donor Recognition Donor Testimonials Student Foundation Publications Why You Should Give to Carey Supporting Carey Mississippi Gives Day Admissions Undergraduate Admissions Catalogs and Course Schedules Change of Status Form Counselors and Staff Tuition Fees Events Admission Requirements Graduate Admissions International Student Admissions Freshmen Students Graduate Students Transfer Students English Language Center Living on Campus Testimonials International Student Life International Student Services Campus Visits Special Events Testing CLEP Program Residual ACT Miller Analogies Test MAT Current High School Students High School Dual Credit Step Ahead Program You are here Home Academics College of Health Sciences Nursing Doctor of Philosophy Ph D in Nursing Education Administration MESSAGE Ph D Program Information Graduate Outcomes of the Nursing PhD Program The graduate outcomes were developed on the faculty s belief that nursing education and administration are advanced practice areas with specialized nursing knowledge that build on existing baccalaureate and master s nursing education By examining the graduate outcomes of the WCU baccalaureate and MSN programs the National League for Nursing NLN educator core competencies NLN 2005 and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing AACN Essentials for Master s Education for Advanced Practice Nursing 2008 the following graduate outcomes were developed The graduate will Utilize concepts knowledge and skills to create an environment that facilitates classroom and clinical learning in the cognitive affective and psychomotor domains Facilitate students development as professional nurses Utilize sound principles to develop strategies to assess academic achievement in the classroom and clinical settings and in the cognitive affective and psychomotor domains Design implement evaluate and revise nursing curricula and program outcomes that reflect the academic institution s mission and goals reflect current trends and evidence based practice and prepare graduates to function as professional nurses Function as a change agent in order to promote the profession of nursing Develop and articulate a vision for the professional nursing practice within the healthcare delivery system Employ sound management decision making problem solving and communication skills to establish collaborative partnerships resolve conflict and effectively utilize resources Utilize information and communication technology effective in the global environment of nursing and healthcare Establish relationships with the community of interest Demonstrate proficiency in scholarly writing Utilize Christian principles as a nurse administrator Admission Criteria Each applicant must submit a completed Nursing PhD application a non refundable 30 application fee official transcripts of all college work completed to date and three letters of reference to the Graduate Admissions Office Additional admission requirements are MSN from an accredited school of nursing GPA of 3 5 on MSN courses Unencumbered license with no pending legal or state board action Eligibility to re enter any previously attended college
