    CLIC where you can rub elbows with three award winning children s and young adult authors Something New QR Codes Help You Browse the Daylight Lounge For the last couple of years the Western Libraries staff has been working to turn the Daylight Lounge into a great spot for casual reading snapping up a DVD for the weekend and browsing current general interest journals magazines as well as a comfortable study space We ve created a monster though The selections of books and DVDs in the Daylight Lounge have become so popular that they are rarely on the shelves making browsing pretty tough Last summer we added cover cards for all of the DL s book titles so that you can browse the titles even if they are checked out Even sweeter we ve added QR codes for each title making it a snap to place a hold using your smart phone QR Codes are those crazy looking patterned boxes that are turning up all over the place tempting you with hidden information or functionality To place a hold just download a QR reader app to your phone and then snap a picture of the code image You ll be taken directly to a library catalog record for the book In a few easy clicks as you re standing there you can place a hold without having to track down a vacant computer station Without asking library staff to place the hold for you And without having to remember to do it later yourself Just click Place the hold Read the book Need a QR reader app Here are just a few places to download from QR readers for iPhone QR readers for other Smart Phones This Issue s Great Tip Keeping Up 101 An easy way to track our new arrivals Did you know that you can subscribe to email updates or an RSS feed of new materials the library purchases in a particular subject area Faculty and students who want to keep tabs on the library s new arrivals either for recreational reading or new releases in their field will really benefit from setting up new book or video alerts Look for all featured materials in the footer of almost every page on the library website Choose the link for all featured materials Browse the list of Book categories in the column on the right to find the subject you want On the subject page you will see the option to Subscribe to email updates and an RSS link at the top of the screen For email updates Choose the Subscribe to email updates link at the top of the page Enter your E mail address Click the Subscribe link The list is updated monthly and the new titles in your subject area will be emailed to you at this time For RSS feeds simply copy the link to the RSS feed into your feed reader Note Only subject areas with new materials are currently listed If your
